I remember the debate when Thor took over about RIM leveraging their NOC to carriers. So at this point is there a way for RIM to use their NOC in a way where they could offer unlimited data for BB devices?

Highly unlikely since VZW would be supplying the gateway for VZW's customers to get thru to the NOC.

Could be a big opportunity. With BB10 and new hardware, RIM could dig deeper into selling their own devices and plans. That would also mean more RIM retail stores. Boy would I love to walk into a RIM/Blackberry Store!!!

RIM could only leverage this as long as BB10 takes advantage of data compression. If they toss compression to the side they will not be able to use that as a selling point.

They wouldn't be able to offer true Unlimited plans using their NOC, but what they could do is really sell the point that with BB10 you would get all of the fantastic features of the new OS, apps, etc, all while using 1/3 the data of an iPhone or Android. This would be a big selling point on the tiered data plans everyone's starting to shift to.
