Replace my defective Torch with a lower-end Berry?
- To keep this brief, I have a BB Torch 9810 that's been an absolute nightmare to deal with since I got it on-contract in November 2011. I have taken into a Rogers store more than once, as well as sent it in for repair; upon being returned it appeared to be even buggier than it had been before.
So today I phoned into Rogers, & the rep told me that my device was still in the warranty period & that I was eligible to receive a replacement device. My question for you is, do I have to replace my 9810 with another 9810? I've played around with both the Bold 9790 & the Curve 9360, & find them to be much smoother experiences (maybe because mine never quite functioned properly) plus I prefer the candybar form-factor versus the clunky slider. I'm going to the Rogers store tonight to get my replacement, but I'd like to know in-advance if it would be possible to get a 9360/9790 instead?
Thanks in advance for responding.05-10-12 01:54 PMLike 0 - Between day 1 and 14 of buying a phone you can take it back, return it, swap it for a different model.. Anytime between day 14 and the 1 year point you can send it in for repair, or get it swapped, all under warranty, but you would then be receiving the exact same model that you have now.
A suggestion for you, you might want to get it sent in for warranty to fix up the issues with it, or swap it for another 9810. Once you get it back, sell it (Craigslist, Kijiji, CrackBerry Marketplace) and then take the money from that sale to buy a 9360 or 9790 on a Hardware Upgrade.
Just my two cents. Hope this helps.05-10-12 02:35 PMLike 0 -
lol. I'm not biased towards devices. I consider what might give a person the best experience, whether it's a BB, iPhone, or Androids. In this situation, the "high end" BB7 phones are what I would stick with.

If you are looking to have them swap it and send you a replacement, they charge $35 to do that now as well. It is still free however to send it in for repair if it is under the one year warranty. The swap is still for the same model. I definitely agree with wxmancanada though, fix it, sell it, then go get a 9900 or something... Check out the Rogers stores and ask if they have any like new/used blackberries, they run much cheaper to buy outright.05-14-12 01:06 AMLike 0 -
This minute count is also account/backend determined, not phone counter based. A lot of customers' plans to return phones get spoiled when they burn up 100 minutes of airtime, then reset the phones internal counter and try to return it. Slightly unfair, but it's a poilcy to protect everyone.05-14-12 09:56 AMLike 0 - I'm sure it was a typo, but it's 30 minutes of talk time
