- I could use some advice. 3 weeks ago, I left my 8530 outside on a construction site and it rained. No more 8530. I had enough points then to get a free curve, but if I waited until today, I'd have enough for a free Torch. Now after reading about everything RIM is doing with BB 10, I wonder if I should save my points so I can be eligible for an early upgrade when a new phone comes out? The curve is only 3400 points while the Torch is more than 14,000. I admit that the curve is way better than what I had, but the browsing experience on the Torch is really nice. Any thoughts?05-01-12 02:01 PMLike 0
- I should add that if the 9930 were available, I wouldn't have stuck with my old phone so long. Now I just plain need a new BB.05-01-12 06:04 PMLike 0
- I have the Curve and like it. If they were the same price, I'd get the Torch, but it was hard to justify paying $150 more at the time. If I were in your shoes I'd get the Curve and horde the other points for earlier upgrade. But that is really a personal preference thing.05-01-12 08:29 PMLike 0

- I must have created a really boring first post, or no one it seems is passionate about the Torch. I'm thinking maybe everyone who viewed agrees to bank the points. I'm going in tomorrow for the Curve unless I hear different. Thanks everyone for looking!05-03-12 06:54 PMLike 0

Good choice. The Curve is a great device for filling in the gap between now and BB10 for an economical price.

Don't want to hurt BB when they're down. The great points about the Torch are why I've been holding off. Now I'm leaning that way! Thanks everyone. Oh, I was not able to get to the store today. Looks like it will be over the weekend.05-04-12 05:50 PMLike 0
- Well I got the Curve. Convinced myself to bank the points for early upgrade. After I had the phone in pocket and ready to go, I told the agent the reason I made my choice. He said that he was told by someone above him that US Cellular is very concerned about the condition of RIM and the stock price, and that there would likely be no new phones this year even if BB10. The guy admitted he is a BB fan, and I knew he was sincere when we talked about the all of the news on Crackberry this week. But I did feel leaving like my strategy may have been a bad one.05-05-12 04:49 PMLike 0
- Oh, I just read my post from yesterday. When I said Good Torch arguements?, I meant to use an exclamation point. That was really good advice, and I thank you. I need to proof read my writing.05-05-12 05:09 PMLike 0

If USCC does not carry BB10 they will see my accounts (4 in all) leave.

I to would take all 4 of my numbers to another carrier if this turned out to be true. I don't think the CS reps are that privy to that sort of information from the upper decision making management though.05-07-12 08:48 AMLike 0 - No new blackberrys from US Android? Oops I mean US Cellular.
That wouldn't surprise me a bit. I will be angry and disappointed if they drop the ball on BB10, but not necessarily surprised.
How many new phones have launched or are going to in the next few months, all of them running android.
I realize that they have nothing new from RIM to even look at right now but how about another Windows phone for folks to consider.
I guess I'm just getting tired of having that little green robot shoved in my face all the time.

That's the kind of thing very few people would be privy to, and they wouldn't be the kind to blab the info to sales reps or agents.05-07-12 09:11 PMLike 0

As for the blackberrys id choose the curve imo. I actually have a new one that i used for 3 days im getting rid of. (could use the money) its a great phone. I bought mine from a private seller, they got it on a insurance claim and by the time they got it they had bought another phone. So i went ahead and bought it to use from friday until monday when i got my 7 pro.
In general though its all about prefference. My choices are blackberrys, windows, and android only on motos05-10-12 11:11 AMLike 0 - I honestly wouldn't be surprised if US Cellular stopped carrying BB's. I know the sales reps do not have access to this information, but I have discussed this with reps in many different stores and there is no BB love. I guess time will tell and maybe the BB10 devices will change this perception.
As far as your initial question, I have the Torch and really like it, but I would be lying if I didn't tell you I missed my Bold 9650 keyboard. If the curve had a HD video camera I would have been sold. I use my phone for work and social media (I do a bunch of work tweets and Facebook biz page updates) and the Curve would do the job, but I love getting quick videos of my kids as well since my phone is always with me.05-11-12 06:54 AMLike 0 - I would bet USCC will still carry BB 10 but in a limited way. Currently they have the low end (less expensive) model and the higher end touch screen opting not to carry the high end model with a full keyboard. This covers the the people who want a BB on the cheap and the people who like the trendy touch screen. That leaves out a lot of BB lovers who like a real keyboard. Like I said, I think they will still carry the BB but in this same limited way in which case I will jump ship. I think USCC is one of the best companies out there as far as customer service etc but if they choose not to carry what i want I'll have to go elsewhere. I've been with USCC since 1994 but I'm not going to buy another phone that isn't what I wanted. I really wanted the Bold 99xx but got the 9850 instead because that was all USCC carries. The contract on all 4 of my lines are about up so by the time BB 10 comes out I'll be free to do what I want. I really hope USCC carries a better assortment of BBs when BB 10 comes out but I don't see it happening. They seem to think the trendy Droids is where the money is.john_v likes this.05-11-12 09:07 AMLike 1
