Is it me or does transferring files from pc to Playbook take forever?

My Playbook connects as a network drive which is cool, however, transfers take long. a 1GB file can take up to 10 minutes to transfer. When compared with a flash drive I take less than 3.

Is there anything that can be done?

Yeah It seems so. I get max transfer rate of around 2.50 MB/second. Most of my devices are the same to be honest. All plugged in to USB3.0 as well lol. Have an external hard drive which is super fast but everything else is so slooooow!. I can live with it though

Just noticed that transfers take really long... Anyone know why they have it connecting as a network drive and not a storage device?

What I'm seeing: max. ~3MB/s via USB, ~300 kbps via wifi for file transfers to the PB.
I'm also noticing it seems to take a significant amount of CPU power while the transfer takes place. I was playing with the PSX emulator, and as soon as I transfer files, it stutters or even slows to the point of being unplayable.

Yup its extremely slow, I get around 3MB/s via USB, even my old class 2 sd card gets up to 4MB/s, and I hardly use that in my phone as felt that was too slow and went to class 10.

I transfer over wifi now, it's even slower but not having my playbook chained to a laptop for half an hour while transferring films is great.

we can all agree that there are plenty of things currently needed and needs addressing... when you read posts and news articles from others sites, they pull no punches and it is almost like they are wishing RIM fails.

I am really looking forward to next weeks conference... Want to hear what's coming, something to give home of a brighter future.

    You guys call that slow?

    Just check the attached image!

2 hours to delete 10.1GB worth of MP3s!!! Unbelievable.

Edit: Of course I canceled the "transfer" and deleted the files from my PlayBook using "Files & Folders" ... it took less than 1 minute!

probably a cheap memory controller as well as cheap flash memory, thats one major pet peeve i have with the playbook is the inexcusable slowness of file transfer either wifi or usb. my HP touchpad transfers files at 6-7mb/s.

Yep; transferred some music and movie files as an experiment and was really surprised at how slow it was. On the other hand, I like the convenience of being able to transfer wirelessly when at home. If I'm really in a hurry, I'll just hook the PB to my laptop.

"Files&Folders" is a pb file manager app. It is available in Appworld for a small cost.

There are other file managers. I like Files&Folders but also use the free app Air Browser, also in appworld.
