I'm awaiting delivery of a 9900 Bold after wanting it since it came out. I'm currently a 9800 Torch user (and a previous 9000 Bold user). I'm sure the transition should be straight forward, but I'm interested in hearing any tips/tricks/advice/comments/suggestions anyone may have who have gone through this change.

The biggest upgrade is to load 7.1 on the 9900. I had a 9800 now on my second 9900.

I haven't looked back since. You won't be disapointed with your new Blackberry.

If you can speed the process up any faster, do it. I had a 9800 and upgraded to a 9900. Best phone ever. The upgrade in performance is incredible.

As I've discovered, if it's sunny out you may have some problems.

Several of us (myself included) cant use the phone outside if it's sunny because the trackpad and screen become totally non responsive. It's irritating. Other than that it's a great phone...if you stay inside or it's cloudy.

It's apparently a software bug as it didn't happen until the 7.1 update. Hopefully a fix is coming.

The only glitch I ran into was some of my apps didnt work good when I transferred them using the DM to move everything from the Torch to the Bold. I figured they were incompatible but after deleting them and reinstallining via AppWorld they ended up working fine. Mostly resolution issues. Other than that, easy peasy!

You're gonna love how fast the browser is.

    Enjoy!

I would recommend you only back up your contacts, emails/messages, and BBM contacts. Some users have reported issues when moving over.

And like already mentioned, install 7.1. Enjoy your new 9900!

Update to 7.1.0.26X or later, 7.0 has issues as do the earlier 7.1 builds.

As already stated, do a minimal restore either selectively through DM or use BB Protect. Full data migrations from older oses to newer ones usually end up badly.

not really just sit back and enjoy the phone. it is simply the best. you mind need a week or so to get used to the difference in picture size because the display is smaller and higher rez, so everything is smaller on the display. but that is only an adjustment.

also you'll notice a big change in battery life. the 9900 doesn't compare to the 9800 battery life which does suck.

and id only recommend the os 7.1.0.342. it is my personal favourite.

    otherwise...have fun!

The only negative changes I had from my Torch 9800 to the Bold 9900 was the fact that the Bold has a terrible battery life. I can barely get through the day (I am a very heavy user of my BB though and I'm on OS 7.0 because AT&T refuses to release 7.1). The other negative change was that in sunlight, my trackpad would randomly scroll up which rendered my phone useless outside. The warranty replaced my phone and I experienced no more problems. It is the best phone I have ever had.

I wouldn't say battery life is THAT different between the two devices. I'm at the point where i can no longer trust ANY battery because of the Torch battery bug where it would go red below 30-40%. When i see the Bold drop to the same amount i always worry the same is gonna happen lol.
I've been a 9900 convert (from a 9800) for 1 week. Love the device - faster and smoother for sure. While I will always miss the screen size of the 9800, the rock solid keyboard on the 9900 makes up for it.

I take my BB off the charger at 6AM and can normally make it till 8-10PM, even longer depending on usage. I charge overnight most of the time. Moderate to heavy usage in email\BBM\web\social feeds\music from media card. Typically keep wifi on all day (connected at home\office), only turn on GPS\Bluetooth when needed. Backlight brightness set to 10. Only app i keep running in the background is Viber.

I get the same battery life out of the 9900 as I did with the 9800, about a day and a half with 4G 5 bars, wifi and bluetooth on.

i moved everything from my torch to 9900. the only problem is the battery life is not as good and it took me a few hours to set up my icons and get all of the setting to where i like them

Do not transfer apps to the 9900. I had a lot of trouble with that. I would have saved some time and a OS reinstall had I only transferred my contacts and reinstalled the apps via BB World.
With OS7.1 I get pretty much the same battery life I got on the 9800. Actually I don't ser any difference at all. It took me about a week to get used to the smaller screen size, but beside that, I am loving my 9900.

The joy of the 9900/30 keypad is that, in comparison to everything else you've tried before, this is completely superior. I've had mine since December and haven't regretted a thing. This is the best phone I've ever used. I've competed against many people in texting competitions and have never lost! I've written essays on this phone. You'll never look back.

I made the jump from the Torch 9800 to the Bold 9900 and am extremely happy I did. I liked the Torch 9800, but even though it had a decent browser in its day albeit slow and very good battery life and a larger display than most blackberries, the BB7 upgrade is totally worth it.

Even if you got the 9810, thats essentially the Torch 9800 on steroids. But the Bold 9900 is simply the best Blackberry ever made and the best smartphone I have ever used. My only complaints as in nitpicking what minor gripes I can find in an otherwise awesome device is the battery life could be better, no adobe flash like any other blackberry ever made, facebook pictures are often taken with phones with different aspect ratios when you view them so you will constantly find yourself zooming in to view it better, the camera has no autofocus, and the screen is 2.8'' inches a bit on the small side and can sometimes be hard to see in bright sunlight.

But... best keyboard ever on a smartphone, fast browser, nice design, compact, screen resolution is aces even on a small screen, everything works well without a hitch, typing is an absolute joy, and the thing is built like a tank.

I have the original 7.0 bundle OS bc ATT hasn't released the official 7.1 yet, I have read many posts that the 7.1 upgrade fixes and improves the battery life.

Also upgrading to OS7 wasn't a problem for me, I kept all my apps and as far as I can tell all are working perfectly. I even have old apps that I don't think are even on the app world for OS7 or were taken off OS6 like tether and kindle apps that carried over. I backed everything up from my Torch 9800 in the Blackberry Desktop manager and just plugged in my Bold 9900 and I was set. Everything works great...

Oh one thing, my tether app I had to input my license code key to get it to work again, but it does work which is a good app to use to share data with my laptop and circumvent tethering fees from ATT.

    9900 has a better keyboard
    9810 has a better camera
    9900 feels more solid

When you get it no matter what carrier your on download and install os7.1. Way better battery management than 7.

I noticed that I am having to worry more about the battery with my 9900.
More conscious to charge it in the car, at the desk, on the night stand.

    Maybe the 7.1 will help??
When will AT&T get it out?

Not even any leaks from att. You can just load any 9900 os onto your phone after deleting the vendor xml file from it.

I have an att 9900 and I am using 9900/7.1.0.523 (B1646) and that's from some company in Thailand
