Its a TOOL not a TOY (even my 9860) plus Im not a sheep, I like to make my own decisions. I have no need during my working day for many more apps than exist, so I'm just fine with what I have

    Its a few things actually.

    I love having a BlackBerry.
My fourth one and none have ever gone wrong.
    BBM.
    Its Canadian, as am I.
UI is very good. Its easy for me to figure my way around.
Tried the Android platform out and I just feel that my phone comes off as more polished(Admittedly I only had a tablet). More basic, but more polished. Much prefer the build quality of my phone.
User support(mainly from Crackberry) is very helpful though the other platforms have theirs as well.

There is more but these are the points that stand out to me and why I continue to support it as a platform.

Just everything about it is why I came back. This time I'll be back for awhile and can hopefully hold out until BB10. I'm testing myself to try and last 6+ months if this phone doesn't break.

I prefer blackberry over other devices because it is more work oriented. Adding to this, its practicality, reliability, and functionality are valuable features.

Needed something new and was tired with my previous phones. BB is definitely different and in a good way.

I can certainly get over the touch screen hump as my Playbook has proved to me. But I just like the way the phone feels in my hand. Granted, I'm used to the OS, the menu system, and the shortcuts. Every once in a while it crashes and it takes a long time to reboot, but it's reliable, rugged, well designed, and very well integrated. And, while the 9930 is the Cadilac of keyboards, I can hammer out messages on my 9650's keyboard. The one thing that's most important to me and the OP did not list as an option, is battery life. If you're battery is dead, you can't get your messages.

I didn't see it as a rant myself. I understood the statement. My BlackBerry does what I need it to do for work and my everyday usage. I didn't buy it because it was the next "it" phone, I bought it because it works. If and when then next BB phones come out, I will buy one of those as well and if there are extra bells and whistles on them, then that's just a plus. Hey, then I guess I will be buying the next "it" phone. LOL. I'll be a hypocrite! Hahaha!

Blackberry's have the fastest e-mail sync.

Try having a fast back and forth e-mail discussion on an iphone. Impossible, as iPhones make you wait 10 minutes to sync with the likes of gmail.

It's really hard to put into words because it is not just one thing for me, it is the whole package. It is the way it "feels" while I am using it.

I have to agree....the LED notification is something that I cant live without. Its one of the biggest pros BB has when comparing devices.

Do keep in mind no matter how you use your phone, the lack of things you deem unnecessary to your smartphone experience like apps, can still effect the longevity of the platform-- which in turn will effect you. This is because if the majority of people want something that a platform doesn't provide, yet nearly all the competing platforms do, then said company may find themselves supplying a product not worth the expense anymore. So really this kind of attitude gets you nowhere really.

Anyway the only thing that keeps me in bb right now is the possibilities of bb10.

Keyboard, BBM are the main things. And there isn't a phone out there that excites me enough to leave. Plus add in bridge, remote and the possibilities that can come with BB10 will have me staying for a while.
