    Hey friends!
I often have complained about the camera quality of my 9900!
But after my last video I was blown away!
My girl and me were at the 3 Doors Down concert in Munich and I recorded the last song they did - I didn`t expect that much...
    But I recorded it.

Back at home, I loaded it on my laptop and WOW!!!!
    It looks pretty awesome!
I`m not sure if it has something to do with the OS 7.1 upgrade, but now I`m totally in love with the videocamera function...

I wanna share that with you and wanna hear, what you say about the quality!
Please make sure to watch it HD!

Here is the link to that:

    Best wishes,

    Slash

I used mine about a week ago and was extremely impressed as well. At the time I was still on 7.0 and don't think I've tried it on 7.1. Will have to check it again.

Nice vid, but 7.1 had nothing to do with it... it's still the same hardware it always was.

Thank you for all your replies!

I never thought that my 9900 offers that quality!
    My video settings were:
Automatic modus, no flashlight and no image stab.

I will never ever complain about the lack of autofocus! The videocamera quality and pic quality (except closeups) are awesome!

    Nice video dude!
It's not about OS but your setting..
just set it to HD quality(720p) and its done! but seriously..
it will drain your battery faster and store space on SD or phone.

I always use it when doing a cover song so not really shocked.
But you use it at dark.. and it show us why they pulled out autofocus.

From what I've been reading up, it seems that the one good thing about having an EDOF camera is that it takes slightly better videos.

You see.. people always complain our bold lack of autofocus which this expensive phone should have it..

But RIM include us the 720P video recoder and its perform well, even it a lack of light situation. And far better than any android phone video recoder which I think that's the reason why they pulled out autofocus other than thinness factor.

ok. But are you implying that the lack of AF is somehow contributing to the vid cam quality

    Yes. As my opinion.

    Never thought about that!
But it makes the living without an autofocus A LOT easier!

First I hated the fact that can't take proper close up pictures - but that makes all good!

And yes, the battery drains fast while recording, but it's ok.

By the way: That video took about 550MB of memory.

Yes, the lack of autofocus does improve the video quality as it keeps everything in focus at all times. For example if you move fast from filming something far away to something very close the autofocus doesn't react fast enough so you'll see some blurring( I believe even the iphone 4s suffers from this, google iphone 4s autofocus problem), because the 9900 keeps everything in focus this is never a problem and everything close and far will be in perfect focus.

    Does that make sense?

    Edit:

The 9900 HD camera has no such problems, everything is always in focus so you never notice any changes from near to far and back.

Yes! I agree, the video is remarkable. I have used it in a low-light room and turned on the light, it was amazing! You can even record in the dark!
