Bold 9900 has been out for a while. I know it's an amazing phone from what I read and saw on youtube. I am currently using an....curve 8520 :$ lol. I know it's ancient. But is it worth whole upgrade to the Bold 9900 this late? Or should I just wait for BB10 to come out? Your expert thoughts please.

Please refrain from any rude and disrespectful comments.

You'll love the 9900. Go ahead and do it. Or wait another year for a BB10 device. Its up to how happy you are with your current device.

i would say go for it, but it's all up to you whats the best decision for you.
many are still jumping on the band wagon to get the 99XX's
it still take a while to get the BB10 devices out, so you gotta have to miss the fun.
    pick your favored choice.

I'm not sure the 9900 is that much of an upgrade from the 8520. Stick with 8520 and wait it out till a worthwhile upgrade is available

The 9900 is a great handset, if you can get one then do it.
Its a huge improvement over earlier BB's even ignoring the move to OS7.
It only took me two faulty units to get a working one and I'm now very happy with my new kit.

I just got my new 9930 today. I haven't activated it yet. But I'm so excited! It is so sleek, thin and pretty. I didn't wait for the new 10 devices because who really knows when they will come out. When they do I'll figure something out then. Oh! I answered because my understanding is that the 9930 is the Verizon version of the 9900.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're going to be remaining in the blackberry world then you're going to really enjoy this device. It's everything that you're used to amplified.

My suggestion would be to purchase a used 9900 to replace the Curve and save your upgrade for the new BB10 phones. You can use the 9900 for a bit and then sell that once the new ones arrive and use your upgrade. Been using the 9900 for months not and absolutely love it, best BB I have owned to this day. Only complaint is battery life but I'm a hard user!

Yes do it because 9900 with the new leaked OS 7.1, I get very good responses from the system.

If you wait till the new BB 10 phones, who knows how long it will take until they get their act together. Plus if you want a physical keyboard based BB 10, it might take a loong time, like a year before you see one. (I speculating and may be RIM is smart enough to come up with a good keyboard based phone with BB 10 before that) It looks like all touch screen BB 10 phones will come out before any BB with a Bold factor.

Instead of waiting, I would go for the Bold 9900.

I came from a 9700 before the 9900 and I absolutely love it. As I have said before, the 9900 is an upgrade in all aspects from the 9700 except for two things, lack of AF and battery issues. Aside from those, it's an awesome phone.

This, from an 8520, I'm fairly certain its gonna be a big jump and your gonna love it.

    Cheers

9900 all the way. Then you will be ready to trade up to something else at about the same time QNX starts to grow out of its inevitable teething pains. The same kind of teething pains encountered by OS7 and the 9900.

I decided to upgrade from a Bold 9000 ... I just didn't like the small screens and keyboards that came out after like on the curve. The 9900 basically has the same size screen and keyboard ...

I got a Playbook and wanted to use the bridge function so I needed to upgrade.

The touch screen takes some getting used to but I really like it, I got a white one

The battery life is less than the 9000 so under heavy usage I make a point to charge it during the day.

I would buy an used 9900 if I can afford, but I can just upgrade it for $50. I think I'm going to do it. My curve is just fine, but it's really slow. It'll be a huge leap in performance (OS 5 to OS7, 5XX mhz to 1.2 ghz and the increase in ram, drooling already) and screen size. I'm really excited
