I'm trying to find instructions on how to downgrade the playbook to factory settings. I wouldn't like to do this jailbreak without making sure there is a way to come back to 1.0.
It's easy to downgrade the PlayBook down to "factory" settings, but you can't take the root with you. It's either root or have OS version 1.0.8.x.
Thanks for replying to my thread.
Yes. I understand there is no jailbreak on 1.0.xxx The security hole was found on the QNX platform which Blackberry calls it OS2.0. I just want to make sure that I have a way to revert all changes and put back my playbook on factory settings in case I need to. Do I just answer my password wrong ten times and let the playbook revert itself?
Answering your password wrong ten times would probably do the trick. But the easy solution is to do a Security Wipe. Go into Options (the gear icon on the upper right corner), then choose Security, followed by Security Wipe.
Be warned this completely wipes all data and give you a kind of "starter OS" which you will need to upgrade to the latest 1.0 before you can function (and restore a backup if you like).
