What exactly does OS 4.5 add to the BlackBerry? I'm still new to the blackberry scene, so forgive my naivete on the subject. Also, how often do changes to the operating systems occur?

I hate sending email to Telus, it always gets me spam. Now they are starting to call me and try selling me that crap with phone calls as well.

If we were to download a 4.5 version from another carrier (I believe Sprint and Verizon in the States have released them) would it work for us here? Just curious because if it does then I might just do that instead of waiting.

I've put 4.5.0.56 (the MTS release) on my Pearl and my wife's Curve. It works just fine.

I just checked it out. They must've taken it down. I got it about a month or so ago when it was released for the 8130 and 8330.

I have the MTS 4.5 release too, and love it. I would like to know if there would be anything different with the Telus 4.5 release though.

Virgin has 4.5.0.82 out for the 8130

    https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do
Virgin actually has 4.5.0.56 version out, the download is for package 4.5.0.82 which includes the .56 OS as well as the 3.2.0.44 software package. This can be confusing but there is no OS 4.5.0.82 OS available on the net so far. Newest version available is 4.5.0.77 Beta, and is still hard to find.

The upgrade is actually very smooth and painless.. the desktop manager backup up all your stuff and put them back in after the upgrade. I don't have to re-install anything and all my musics, movies are still on my memory card.

I'm using .77.. the HTML email is the main thing for me.

I've just recently installed 4.5.0.77 on my 8830, it's been pretty stable, I was having a bad memory leak with 4.2 and it seems to a lot less apparent in 4.5. Having Docs to Go is great for the type of work I do, I'm always getting plenty of attachments.

Overall, no problems, quick install time, good performance, 2 thumbs up from me!
