Hi, has anyone ever taken an Unlocked Verizon 9930 to Koodo. In theory it should work on the HSPA, however..... can it also work on thier CDMA network???

On the brink of buying one, but this is the one question no one knows.

You can't unlock a CDMA device. The aspect that are unlocked are the 2G GSM bands and the 2100 900/2100 UMTS bands that will allow you to deploy a SIM card to access 3G/H+ bands in Europe and Asia and other areas outside of North America. You're SOL for both 2G (since as Fubaz mentions, Koodo doesn't support 2G GSM, and you can't undo the lock to your US CDMA carriers- which is the main reason CDMA sucks arse) and 3G because the 9930 lacks the tech for accessing Koodo's Canadian UMTS bands.

Do not buy it. No Canadian should buy a 9930, full stop. It's a brick outside the US. Buy a 9900.

Everyone is correct. Your best bet is an unlocked Telus, Rogers, Bell, Virgin, Sasktel and AT&T 9900 on the Koodo network.

Ok, well what about if I had the spc code the to get in. Still a no go? Apparently this phone is already working on the Rogers network, but nothing confirmed on bell, telus, koodo, virgin yet. Does any one know of any other options for a phone that could work both gsm and cdma?? I need cdma for where I travel- no gsm service there at all. They all say there will be, but there will be since 2 years ago..

The 9930 will work on Rogers and Fido on the 2G network as they support edge. KOODO runs on the HSPA+ network as Telus Bell Virgin does as well. SPC code will only remove the activation required message.

yeah, koodo will not work on a 9930, only 9900. Koodo only uses sim cards when the phone can use 3G network, however 9930 can only be used on 2G network on canadian providers who uses sim card.
