I have a Case-Mate Barely There Brushed Aluminum Case and NFC doesn't work at all when it's on. Tried reading a few tags to no avail. Don't think it'd be any different with the OEM case.
Hey there I have a Curve 9360 with an oem hard shell case, i tried reading a few smart tags from another blackberry and NFC works just fine with the case on.

OEM cases are NOT made with aluminum or metallic finish, so they will and do work with NFC. RIM would not make a case to fit the device if the case either removed or blocked features.
