I've installed an update for free berryweather app today, and I was very dissapointed- it has ads!!!

I've been a happy user of the free berryweather app, until today. They have also made some improvements to the graphics...but I don't care about better graphics. I HATE ads.

It was the only best, free and add-free weather app on the app world. It really pissed me off when I saw ads in this update. I regret that I have installed that update.

...so can I somehow get the older version back??
The paid version is too expensive, and it has many features which I don't need, or want.

    Can someone please help me?

    thanks in advance.

You can go back to your previous version of BW if you have conducted the recommended back ups of your 3rd party apps via DM, BBSAK, or similar program.

@kellyjdrummer...I don't need paid version, free version has everything i need. I was happy with the free vesion, until they put ads in it.,

@MADBRADNYC I'm not sure I've made any backups, but I'll check if I did.,

@sam81 I just took a look at the "what's new in this update"...no, they didn't mention anything about ads there. I had no idea they would waste such a great app with ads.

btw...does anyone know, if I can download previous version from their internet site?

Not from their site, but there are sites out there with the old OTA files hosted for your to download. I have no idea who has an OTA file for this, but you can try googling it.

It's a pretty comprehensive app for free. I used it for a year or so before finally buying BW. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't had ads before now. Nothing prompts me to buy the full version of a favored free product like putting ads in it. Wait for the full version to go on sale, or watch for giveaways. BW is an app worth purchasing.

@mss-ca thanks, I'll try googling it.

@rrrebo I'll probably buy the full version, if it gets on sale or something...Maybe RIM will give it to us as a thank you gift, who knows. Since they gave us the Nobex radio, which is $9.99, just like Berryweather.

I never upgrade anything until I see some reviews on it. I saw that one last night and passed when I saw the reviews which were all negative since the upgrade.

I actually like the updated version. The ads don't bother me in the slightest; it is not the annoying, intrusive type anyway. I also have the icon/condition/temp set to show on my homescreen so I guess that is also why the ads are a non-issue for me.

For a free app, BW still does its job very well

May I just politely ask why people get upset when someone tries to make money from their work instead of continuing to give it away for free? They should get something for their work. If they're not happy with what they're getting, they should try to get more.

Look at TV, you pay so much and still half the broadcast is ads on most channels.

    ^^Normally... THIS^^.
However, Bellshare has currently removed all of their apps from the MobiHand store due to non-payment.
So, until they re-publish their apps in that market, there will be no discounts offered.

AppWorld does not currently have a credit/coupon system in place to do this.

No. That statement is taken from the CB blog report on the new update.
What it actually does say is that it is ad free if you upgrade to the full version.
Which means there are ads in the free version, but if you upgrade, you will receive no ads.

Thank you anyway, even if the link is not the right one.

...I was just disappointed to see ads in the new version, since it never had ads before. It's a shame, how they waste such an awesome app with ads. I was using bw everyday and it was my favourite weather app, mostly because it did not have ads (it was also one of the few free apps without ads).
I still regret that I've installed the update...damn. I wish I had the previous version.

If anyone finds any link for the previous free version, please post it here(I didn't have any luck searching for it). thanks

Yeah. Sorry about that. I was just trying to assist you and came up with a bust. LoL.
I don't like ads myself, but for free (or paid) it is absolutely the best...

The only other free alternative that is worth anything IMO (meaning GPS inclusion) would be BBWeather.
I still keep a copy on my device for a weather back up and comparison with BeWeather.
It works just great on my 9780.

Posts like this not only crack me up, they **** me off. How DARE a vendor place ads on a program they are giving you for FREE.....the nerve of them. How the heck do you think a lot of these vendors make money????? Do you work for free, whatever it is you do? Maybe you should donate an hour a day without pay to your boss.....it was ad free for a long time, now it's not.....live with it, you still get the info you want.....or shell out for the paid version. There are no free rides, companies need to earn income to provide services (not service in Bellshare's case, as that word doesn't exist in their vocabulary). Want everything for free, go live in a socialist country, just don't count on their economy being there for long.

    @rfalter I don't work yet...I go to high school.
I understand that if the app is free the developer doesn't get anything from it. I know why there are ads in free aplications...but that's not the point of this thread!...This thread is meant for those, who wants/needs the previous version back.

btw, I can't buy any paid apps, because you need a credit card. And you can get a credit card once you're 18, and you have a job. That's why I was pissed when I saw ads in the free version.

@MADBRADNYC thanks, for those links, I'll try them out.

    anyway...

Okay, you are under 18, don't have a credit card, cannot buy apps. Who bought the BB? They paid cash? They/you pay the monthly charges with cash? You can't sign a contract with a supplier if you are under 18, so I would have to guess either someone bought it for you and pays the monthly charges, or it was 'found'. Somehow the story just doesn't hold water.

wtf? Are you trying to embarrass me or something??

I bought my 9780 (by saving up and not spending too much every month).
I get scholarships every month. 20 of that goes for my monthly charges (I never spend more).
For 20 I get an unlimited free BIS, 100 free text messages, 100 free mms, and 100mb free internet at my carrier.
The only part my parents did, was sign the contract.

I won't read any more bulls**t about telling me that I shouldn't update if I didn't want ads, etc.

After all, we learn from our mistakes!

Right now, I must somehow get my previous version back...btw, I think I just found the previous free version at 4shared.com. Now I have to test it and I'll post it here, if it works.

Actually, I was trying to embarass you, not humiliate you. Bellshare needs to generate income so that they can continue to provide free versions of software, such as the one you want. Every time you click on an ad, whether or not you buy anything, they earn a few cents. You want free from them, I wonder when you get out into the work world if you will work for free for a certain amount of time every week...not!

Now, if the new version with ads didn't work, I could understand and agree with your need to go back to older version.....but since that isn't your issue, you are just another young person who wants something for nothing.....and I'd bet dollars to donuts you download music illegally as well, because what the heck, the artists are making enough money as it is. Everyone has to earn a living, and your desire to deny Bellshare their opportunity shows a remarkable amount of selfishness and lack of understanding or caring for other's needs What goes around, comes around.....pay to play as best you can, or get out. Sorry for the lecture, but the endless complaints on these boards bemoaning what was free no longer is leaves me cold. I hope when you hit the work world and learn some wisdom that someone doesn't take your work and demand it for free.

Bellshare gives, asks little, but you want it all. Not fair, and the trouble in this world. Everyone want something for nothing.
