What contest was it though?
I'm curious to know what contest gives away unreleased phones. lol
I won a manager award for a major retail chain in the UK. There was a Blackberry representative there and he decided to let the winner have it! It's new but didn't come with a charger or anything else even. But the phone still had the stickers on it and the battery was sealed.
Those buttons are so ugly. The rest of the device looks great though.
To be honest I think the rest of the device isn't that great looking. I think too much was focused on making it slim. The 9780 looks and feels more premium in my opinion.
I think I'm the only person in the universe who doesn't mind the buttons!!!!
W-A-N-T!!!!!
Nope make that two; I am with you. I like the raised buttons. Remember how stereos started getting rid of knobs that aid use just because they could? Like a volume knob. Then they replaced them with flat touch controls to make it "look cooler". No thanks. I will take functionality anytime. There is no real useability reason to not have real buttons. It's all about style and potentially a dis service to users.

I'd like to know: What type of battery is built in (model number), the same as in the 9780? I think it is another type. So, what about the battery runtime of this one compared to the one in the 9780?
Daniel
EDIT: Just found that the 9790 has JM-1 (1230mAh) battery unlike the M-S1 (1500mAh) in the 9780. We'll see ...
Not exactly but I was told sometime in Feb 2012. I personally think it will be earlier.
The release date for almost everything (at least 5 new products or services) with Research In Motion is February 2012. Is that the revised Mayan End-of-the-World Calendar?

Yep it's a different battery. First run shows it's not quite on par with my previous 9780. I've used it today for the first time on a full charge from the morning. On moderate use (a few short phone calls and sending a few texts) and battery now shows approximately 40% remaining.
The phone isn't very different to the 9780. If I had a 9780 I wouldn't be in a rush to upgrade to this or the 9900. Personally I would wait for the new BBX platform.
Talking of upgrades if anyone wants a great deal on their upgrade PM me
