We are considering deploying a small number of 8520 devices to the drivers of a client of ours. The clients concerns is that the drivers will swap the SIM cards in the 8520 out to their cheaper unmanaged phones and bypass the policy restrictions. Any suggestions on how we could ensure that a SIM only works on a designated BlackBerry.

By putting the SIMs in anther phone will only allow for phone calls and SMS. Those can be restricted at the carrier level. The BES can not add any restrictions to the SIM card.

If they put their own SIM in the company BlackBerry all the same restrictions will still be in place.

Are carriers able to restrict SMS and calls to a specific phone then? I know BES policies only apply to a particular SIM/BlackBerry combo, its when that someone breaks that combo that is the problem. I was hoping someone here had came across a situation where they had to solve the same problem. We spoke to our carriers (MTN, Vodacom and 8ta) and they tell us they can't help us at all.
