Hi, I am using a 9780, unlocked handset in New Delhi - India and it is off lately become very slow in responding to any action that I would want it to take.
The OS version presently installed is 6.0 Bundle 863 (V 6.0.0.285, Platform 6.5.0.54).
Is a new OS version available for 9780 which is proven for faster response and stability.
If yes, please let me know from where can I download the same.

.285 is a dinosaur OS, and a complete joke compared to later versions. My 9780 even shipped with a newer OS than that over a year ago!
The latest OS version for any device on CrackBerry is always posted in the sticky at the top of each device forum. In the case of the 9780 it's OS .668
Download, install, and enjoy it

I like to think that it's operator dependent... I use .668 version for 2 different operator. Both have same strong signal and high speed but one perform better with .660 and the other with .668.

I couldn't say anything more .. Download the BB Hybrid Tool to Shrink (Erasing UN-necessary native apps + languages) your OS.688 before you install it ... it will speed up Ur BB a lot more too ...
Shrinking is a pretty easy process & with the Shrinking tool mentioned above .. you cant go wrong anywhere in your updating process .
Even without the Shrinking applications you can still remove a lot of the pointless trash-apps like Facebook\Twatter\MSN\Yahoo\whatever and spare languages just using AppLoader.
what should we do after update OS? Do I need to pull the battery every hour? How many time to pull battery to let the new OS comfort with phone? Can someone here, share info about it.
However, as a practice, I do a soft-reset everyday in the morning soon after I wake up to use the phone for the day.
Soft-reset is done by PRESSING [ ALT + RIGHT CAPS + DEL ] (with 3 fingertips all together till you see the Red LED come ON). Then you release it & wait for reboot to occur.

Battery pulling is a bit bonkers. No logic to it. And I never bother.
If you feel like it, pull the battery when you want. I put it into the same category as other superstitions like walking under ladders and touching wood for luck. If it makes you feel good, then do it.
In the first few hours of a new OS being installed there will be some reindexing and so on. This will be why battery life on the first day seems less.
i need to updated my device blackberry 9780 6.0.863 (v6.0.285, Platform 6.5.0.54)

I am not sure if a new version is available but I don't have any problems with it. Just plug it into your computer and check if any updates is available. I do it once a month or once every two months.

I dont know if 6.0 Bundle 2921 (v.6.0.0.666, Platform 6.6.0.241) is the most up to date update for Bold 9780. could some one let me know if it is or if there is an update for it. If its not the current version I dont understand why it won't let me update it from my phone rather than having to plug it in to my PC
.723 is indeed the latest, but has a few well-documented bugs. In my experience, either .722 or .666, which use the same software platform, are the most stable and bug-free.
hi vswwr,
Can you let us know those well documented bugs from .723 that you mentioned? Probably I have to start looking into this.
Also, where to get the .722 version and don't they have their own bugs as well? So far, most of the release versions almost always have bugs. The preference of which version to fall upon is basically depending on whether the bugs irritates you or not?
