- BB steals my heart again, but VZ...not so much! So, to my delight, VZ agreed to replace my uncooperative Storm 2 with a BB Torch! I take the morning off of work so that I can be at home to receive my package and set my new baby up. FedEx guy shows up and I'm super excited...until I open the box and realize that VZ only sent the phone...no battery and no battery cover! I realize that this is the normal practice for replacements, but it doesn't work so well when your old phone and new one are NOT compatible! Ugh! Anyway, I bought a battery and got my new toy up and running just fine. I LOVE it! I don't miss Surepress at all!!!10-03-11 07:30 PMLike 0

- Hi Jessi,
They did replace my Storm 2 with a Touch because of my insurance. I am eligible for an upgrade, but I did not have to use it. Of course, the Torch that they sent is most likely a refurbished one, but I'm okay with that---especially considering that I usually end up getting a couple of replacements anyway b/c of bugs. So, I'm not complaining at all! Good luck10-05-11 12:00 PMLike 0 - Oh, so you mean this wasn't the first time in VZ history that they replaced a phone with a different model?? So, they should know better, huh? SMH lol As if this wasn't frustrating enough, I'm STILL waiting on that battery and back! I called on Monday at 1pm and asked them to order it. The guy told me that it would be sent overnight and would be here on Tuesday. Apparently, even though I called at 1, the order wasn't approved by a supervisor until after 5, so it wasn't shipped until Tuesday. I wonder how it would work out if I sent my payment in late...10-05-11 12:12 PMLike 0

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com10-05-11 09:33 PMLike 0 - Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have had a problem buying the back or battery...if they had said that I was supposed to, but they were pretty clear that it was an oversight, not their policy. When I went to my VZ store, they didn't even carry batteries or backs for the Torch. All is well now though...I have a whole Torch and I love it!10-05-11 09:55 PMLike 0
- I am going on my 3rd 9850. 1st one had touch screen freeze issue along with phone ringing at random but no one calling. VZW shipped me a replacement but couldn't guarantee it was brand new. Had this 2nd phone about a week when JVM528 error message popped up. Took it to store and the sales rep actually tried to convince me phone was still good and to keep it (ie, email is working!). I'm stuck with VZW due to coverage. Too bad the customer service at VZW is really really poor.
Message to RIM - you might want to visit the stores in NJ. Iphones and Droid phones cover the shelves. 2 BB gets a small corner off to side. Doesn't sound like VZW is partners with RIM.10-16-11 01:35 PMLike 0 - I've had issues with Verizon over the many years of contracts with them. But, I am really pleased with the service that they have provided me when I got my new BB 9850. The 1st one began freezing and listing exception messages soon after it was activated. After 6 minutes w/tech support they sent a replacement which worked really well, but the 6 hour battery life (on standby) was unacceptable. My 3rd BB 9850 will arrive tomorrow and will be complete; phone, cover, battery.
The BB 9850 has been the very best of all my 8 previous BB's. I only wish that Verizon & RIM would do more promotion of the phone so that developers would feel comfortable in developing additional apps.
Anyway, thanks Verizon. You've held up your end.10-16-11 04:09 PMLike 0 - Not my experience with the new VZN. Been helpful with my transition from S2 to 9850. I had installed my S2 apps via DM (the one that says it will only transfer those apps that are compatible with OS7 / 9850). One of them, described by some as a "pre-app", that touches the GPS subsystem, would install itself on an S2 boot. On my 9850, this caused an infinite loop that precluded anything: battery pull included. I live in Montgomery Texas, but I found myself in Austin. I had called VZN and talked to a senior tech about my hopeless state. When I walked into a local VZN store, they handed me a new phone, no questions asked. Whoa - this is not the same folks who, 5 years ago, would not even let me change a ring tone on my own.
While I was getting my Contacts transferred in the store, I was listening to an employee patiently explaining to a pair of elderly customers that they would have to contact Verizon Customer Service to discuss a warranty on a 12 year old phone, since that phone was no longer manufactured or supported !!! (And we think we have problems!)
It was the Conroe VZN Store that got me off dead center on getting my BBID updated and moving on down the road.
VZN just wants us to be happy with our phone choices. You can do a *228 at any time to switch to an older phone, no problema.
