Trying to enter network unlock code into BB 9860, but when I try MEP2 no unlock comes up
ALT does appear in top right corner when I press numeric pad to enter the 2, but no windows asking for unlock code pops up

Anyone know how I do this ?

There is not alt key on the 9860/50 so you will need another carrier's sim card in order to unlock this device.

interestingly I have found a way to simulate it to get the engineering menu

in the home screen, hold down the "back" key and then press in the main screen:
top left, top right, top left, top right
    and viola!

I feel there must be a way of simulating it in the SIM card screen. Certainly MEPD works, so it makes no sense that MEP2 can't be entered as well

Kind of wierd. On my 9530, MEPD + MEP2 worked just fine to get to where one could enter the unlock code without a non-VZW SIM. But on my 9850, this did not work. MEPD did, but not MEP2. I had to put in my at&t SIM and enter the unlock code at the prompt.

In fact, when I unlocked the 9530, the VZW Global Support person walked me through the MEPD+MEP2+unlock code sequence, but when I called them to unlock the 9850, they gave me the unlock code and told me to enter it when I put a non-VZW SIM in the phone.

I just went thru this. The way to do it is is type in MEPD then before you type MEP2 press the &%123 key once it will change the keyboard to numeric then press and hold it again and it will change it to alpha again. While holding down that key type MEP2.

This is what I did on my 9850.
    jeffmik and bcjci like this.

If you hold down the 123 key it will switch to the numeric keyboard with the ALT locked down.

on my 9550 (yes, storm 2) if you used the suretype layout, you had to switch to "full mode" for the mepd mep2 for anything to show up. maybe that'll help anyone with issues, too.

The 9550 is an easier process. For the 9860, it is a little tricky but it is possible. Thank you.

I ran into the same issue last week when I was unlocking my phone to use it international abd I also Was not able to get the MEP2 setting under the advanced Sim card options either BUT.......

What I did since I was already oversees at that point was put in the Sim card I was using and the first thing that popped up when I turned on the phone is the Enter MEP2, which I id and it worked! : cool:
