9860 work in 3G mode on AT&T. I see the frequencies have some compatibility from 2G to 3g but before I shell out $500 I need to know for sure that it will work here in the US.

sorry for the question. I did some research on network frequencies but nothing that said "sure buy it it will work-on GSM but only in 2G mode"

    Thanks

It will work on HSPA +, 3G and Edge .... Telus roams on AT&T and it works fine. All you need to do is unlock it when you get it.

Mine was branded Rogers (same frequency as Telus) and I used blackberrycodesource.com to unlocked it, was very easy and fast... My carrier is Tigo here and I have H+ signal and uses 850Mhz and I think AT&T's 3G/H+ is 850 or 1900Mhz and this 9860 support both...

Use freemyblackberry.com...I use them with my Telus 9860 only paid $4 because it's a premium unlock. My other blackberrys in the past was free

^^^ You'll love it. It is what BlackBerry should have done two years ago!
