Well I've been using quite a few apps on my Blackberry bold for awhile now, and figured I'd give up some details for those who don't know.

    It's quite simple actually,

go here using your blackberry browser:

    http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoft....do?code=wlm20

select your language, and download version 2.1.36

once installed navigate to your downloads folder...

and have fun, on data or wifi it works out of the box.... or should i say off of the net.

anyway, hope this gives those of you who have just received your bold something to do... lol

On the rogers network you do not need to restore service books.

make sure you are typing the url in properly, using blackberry emulation mode, It should work perfectly fine, I've done it for a few friends of mine.

the browser is probably reading the truncated http link.
u need to put in the full link
    http://www.blackberry.com/device software/entry.do?code=wlm20
    remove the space inbetween

thats the general error with most peoples bolds

easier to maybe install beejive run it thru the 30day trial. and purchase it. as i find it a lot better than wlm anyway.

or if u want wlm, then hope RIM fix the problem in 30days lol

It doesn't work for me either, device isn't supported. Can't someone give us the direct OTA link
or at least the app, so we can install in device manager.

theres heaps of alternatives around guys, if u really need messenger, just install one and wait for RIM to get wlm sorted.

There also doesnt seem to be an option not to display groups - i.e.: just view all online contacts ...

The link works, but eventually once I navigate to the download page..it says NOTE: Microsoft windows XP SP 2 users: If you encounter an error, look at the top of thispage for a yellow bar that reads "This site might require the following ActiveX control: 'AxlLoader.cab' from "Research In Motion'. Click here to install..." Click the yellow bar and choose "Install ActiveX Control..." to allow installation to proceed.

I see no such yellow bar or anything else to click on, on this particular page...I'm stuck.

you could not have been doing this using blackberry emulation.

you would only get that message using an alternate emulation method like internet explorer.

just tried the link from my bold and works fine for me....

Just a thought as I'm quite new to Blackberry stuff but could it be because mine is an unlocked Bold and others are network variants?

How does one go into 'blackberry emulation' mode?

I'm using the browser provided with the bb...i thought that's what you're supposed to do?

Ok I spoke to rogers' BB tech support and apparently I was put on the regular 6gig data plan, not the one specific for BB's.

I also didn't have any gps mapping anywhere available on the phone, and was blocked from using youtube, so hopefully this will fix all of those issues.

    Restarting phone now.

    Update: FIXED!
