I am fromt he caribbean ( trinidad and tobago )

So I'm going to get a 9930 from sprint in a few weeks... We only have an EDGE network down here, but we should be upgrading to 3G or 4G soon. There is also talk of another carrier coming before the end of the year.

I know the phone is going to work here, but my question is, in the event that we are upgraded to 3G/4G, will I have access to these speeds?

I have been doing some reading about unlocking sprint 9930's and it does not seem that way... I'm hoping I can.

    Can someone please clarify

The GSM 3G band channels in the US are different than those in many other countries. So an unlocked Sprint Bold would get Edge in the states, but 3G in countries that have it overseas. So not all hope is lost.

I doubt there are any carriers that are receiving 9930's that don't have bands for at least 3G. I doubt RIM has any manufactured that are below 3G speeds for that matter.

As long as your carrier upgrades it's network to at least 3G yes you will receive it as I can't beleive that it would not be built in and you can check by looking at the settings where you can turn off 3G down to 2G if you wanted but go for it with the 9930, you will love it.

yes to 3G and H+.. which is 3.5G, for the 9930/9900 doesnt support LTE. But it does support HSPA+
