So I had a spare 9780 battery laying around and I decided to take a look at the two. It was minor things not making it fit. So i decided to grab my tools and hack it up so it fits just rite. I got the battery shaped to fit in perfectly as if it were meant for the 9900... Only to find out that its no compatible... You get a blank screen with a battery and a red X on top of the battery.
Also to add to this... I also tried a HTC G2 mugen battery of 1800mah, and it has the same contour as the bold 9900 battery... guess what.. with a few minor adjustments it fits in very snugly just as the stock battery does but gives the same error. Now for why rim did not make this battery bigger, is one of two things...
1. They are ********.
2. Business tactic to up charge on a newer battery that they will release soon and charge us probably double. Probably around $50-$70 for the battery. By doing so, almost every Bold 9900/9930 owner will run out and grab the new battery that they will be releasing soon. There for they have added another $50-$70 extra on their phone without the customer realizing it...
Not for me... Im a heavy user. I use my blackberry to Trade and check news when I'm on the go. Battery dies to fast for me. The bold 9780 had better battery. I know for a fact RIM could of added a bigger battery.

But people can complain depending on how bad it is and get a free replacement most times thru carrier which would cost more money.

Why the hell are you trying to do something as stupid as putting an unsupported battery made for a different model into your phone?
Buy an official JM1 brand new battery and carry it with you in a travel power adapter kit. When battery one runs out swap it for battery two. One battery in your phone, the other charging in your travel kit. Problem solved, end of.
