BB has 3 new phones coming out.
9900
9810
9860
and a lower end Curve
Which of the phones is considered to be the "top" phone. The 3 phones all run OS 7, and I think they all use the same processor.
Except for the 9900, the others have an excellent camera. No phone w. OS7 has UMA - but they claim that will be remedied w. a s/w update.
Is it just a matter of taste and that all 3 are considered "premium" phones?
Except for physical diff. (keyboard, screen size etc.) are there any other diff in the way they act?
I assume any updates that are issued will affect all of them.
The 9900 is the probably the "top" BlackBerry phone ever.
None of them are really "top" phones compared to the entire smartphone market, at least as far as specs are concerned. If you took the top smartphone manufacturers and took their "top" phone though you'd probably have a list like(no particular order):
Samsung Galaxy S II
iPhone 4
HTC something
BlackBerry Bold 9900
pretty much all three are the high-end, with the 9900 being the flagship.
The curve (and the eventual Pearl and possible flip) will be low end/medium range, and the biggest sellers.
The Upcoming QNX phone will round up as the top-of-the-line Superphone (to use Bell's naming scheme)
We viewed the 9900 as going backwards. No UMA and a crippled camera. After several years of using a BB 8320 then a 8900 - when wiife's 8900 started dying, had to get a replacement. She might have gambled that UMA would be added via OS upgrade in the next few months - but she wanted a functioning camera - which the 9900 is designed not to have. TM doesn't carry the 9810, which might have worked for her.
So she went with the 4G slide (HTC). There is a learning curve - but it can do a lot more. Does have wifi callling built in and a great camera. Large screen.
I'll keep my 2 y.o. 9700 since it does everything I need. UMA for use overseas, and a camera that works good enuf for my business purposes.
The Best Blackberry device for now is the Bold 9900, i am wondering when they will have the 9790 and what's going to be next with the new touch-bold device.
The new Bold 99xx and the new Torch's 9810, 9850,9860 all hace similar specs except media memory. Other than that they're the best RIM has to offer right now.
