Well, I ain't doing it on Amazon; that's for sure. I just checked the trade in value on a White 9800 AT&T in good condition, and it's 85 cents. Mint condition would get me a whole dollar! But ebay will give me $136 with the charger, and I think that might be the safest bet.
On my local Kijiji, Torches are still going for $200 in scratched condition and $300 in good condition. A bit more work on your part, but you'll get more money back that way. You can also list it on the Marketplace here if you wait another 29 posts.
In fact, if your Torch is made in Canada, I'd buy it from you. Been trying to find one for a loooong time.
Try craigslist. Make sure you meet in a good public location like a starbucks and talk to the person on the phone before meeting since this can usually determine if the person is either definite about the purchase or is just calling to ask about the phone.
I sold my 9800 to Best Buy today and got 165 dollars due to the condition.....I think if you had things like the instruction manual, charger, etc it would bump up the price. I did the phone only and got that much and was quite impressed
Best Buy offered me $169 for my 9800 on a gift card. I think I'm going to try ebay and if its not getting up to that, get the trade in best buy is offering.
gotta be more than $75 on ebay I can get $200+ for my curve 3g
I don't think he meant for you to trade it in on Amazon but rather sell it in the marketplace
No, I didn't say just $75, I said $75 or so more than what this site is offering him. In other words, at least $200, depending of course upon condition and perhaps whether accessories or even the original box are included (always a plus!). Note, though, that as people are moving to the 9810, the going rate might drop as more used 9800s suddenly become available.
Thinking of phones I was at Walmart earlier and looked to see if they had the new 9810 at this location........they didn't but had a 9800 for contract price at around 2 dollars and off contract over 700.......from what I know both Torches are nowhere near that expensive off contract no matter how low the contract price gets.

They quoted me that, too, but they don't list the 9810 as a device you can trade up to. I emailed them twice asking about this and I never got a reply.

I don't believe they are going to offer trade ups to OS 7 phones, but perhaps they might in the future to encourage sales. Really, your best bet is eBay. I just sold my 9800 for $285 there.

Hey barskin,
I have the same question - I have just sent them an email myself - if you/I get no answer, I did some research about The Wireless Source, the company managing the Trade Up program - so I can call them if they don't answer the email:
UPDATE: I am happy to report that I did receive an email from TheWirelessSource confirming that they are paying up to $170 for 9800s - even if you selected 9800 as the upgrade device.

But, we were wondering if you could select a 9810 as the upgrade device.
This is all moot to me, however, as I accepted the Ebay $150 offer, and sent my 9800 on its way.
This company is a scam - I just sent them my iphone - and five weeks later I have contacted them every day - but the will not send the money, and continue to say that "they are looking into the matter" but I have the proof the received the phone from FedEx.
