With the battery door now having that NFC thing, is it going to be a problem getting an extended battery for the 9900/9930?

It appears that the camera and battery life are the primary problems. The camera is a loss, but an extended battery would fix the only other possible issue.

    I found this 2400mAh battery for 9900
Extended Battery with Cover For RIM BLACKBERRY Bold 9900 Li-ion 2400Mah - Bold 9900

    and the smaller 1500mAh
High Capacity Battery For RIM BLACKBERRY Bold 9900 Li-ion 1500Mah - Extended Battery with Cover For RIM BLACKBERRY Bold 9900 Li-ion 2400Mah

    from CameronSino technology

By looking at it, I doubt if that really fit into 9900, the camera & flash doesn't match, battery size also.

I don't own a 9900 yet (thanks AT&T), so I have to ask if the batteries are coded smart batteries like the OEM in my 9810? If so, I hope the extended versions come with a "copy cradle" for lack of a better description.

The 2400Mah one shows a battery door for a 9000 with the camera in the middle.

The other one doesnt look too fishy but buyer beware on those kind of sites.

I too emailed Seidio but never got a response from them one way or the other with regard to an extended battery. However, I have the 9930 for use on Verizon and absolutely love it. Haven't had the battery issues many have discussed and I'm a power user. However, when it becomes available, I'm definitely going to pick up the extended battery.

I'm sure one day that the Platinum Series products that I saw at Best Buy will be providing extended battery usage for 9900/9930. They have some for HTC, other Blackberrys, and they have one for the Torch. I read the reviews on the HTC and wow what a difference that product made. I couldn't find any review about the Torch and yet it was selling at Best Buy.

    BestBuy.com - Search Results

I know these show HTC, but Best Buy does have some great mAh extended batteries.

Seidio We will have a Spring-Clip Holster for a non-cased device and are looking into developing extended batteries! We should have cases and holsters soon too!

I will only put Seidio batteries in my devices. Don't trust anyone else.

I found a ton of these on eBay and was wondering if anyone has tried them? Search for "bold 9900 extended battery". They come with some kind of replicator, so I'm guessing your original battery has some kind of code. I'm curious if anyone knows more about this. They have 3500 mAh, pretty sweet! 3x the original battery life!

Sedeio has absolutely no plans as of now. They sent me a Charging vault instead(As a gift), but I wouldn't buy them just yet. They will be restocking in January. The one they sent me doesn't like my 9930 and it doesn't charge it for more than 20 minutes at a time. (Overheats then shuts off.)

If this is true, this is a bad idea on Sedeio part because they can't make money off of selling extended batteries for phones like iPhones and Androids that do not have removable batteries. Blackberry is a huge market for them. Even with the added antenna to the new back covers they come up with, the customers will be willing to pay extra to get their hands to the extended battery even at a premium price.

    New 1500mAh Battery For BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 9930 Torch 9850 9860 JM1 | eBay

Works for me.... I have no scientific measuring devices for if it actually lasts longer but I have more charge left when I stick it on the charging pod now. I won't buy those fat batteries...ruins the sleek lines and you lose NFC.

There are several extended batteries out there, but I could not find any literature about whether NFC circuitry is included in the cover? Very disappointing!!

I bought a 36000 mAH batter off ebay! Came with the cover and yes the NFC circuitry is on the cover. It cost me 17 bucks! I then bought a all rubber otterbox (used to have the defender) and cut out the back for the battery cover and im pretty happy with it! Makes the phone alot heavier but I was charging my phone 3 times a day and now I dont have to.

by reading your post, i really wanna try the 1500mAh battery again that is laying in my drawer.
not still sure if it has worked for me, since i didn't fully test it. so far i tried two charges and they went down pretty fast
and the cloning matter .. ahww
Can you give more details about why you decided to go back? Did the battery seem to discharge even faster than the original jm-1? Also whats the cloning matter?

I'm seriously considering buying this 1500mAh battery.

The really large batteries are a bit tempting, but having a battery door that sticks out isn't very appealing. I'd rather drop my phone to 2G to extend the life. Not to mention it would render the holster i bought useless. Just my personal preference though.

Regarding NFC antenna on the battery door:

NFC has 3 modes: Reader , Peer2Peer, and Card Emulation Mode.
If you buy the battery door from an unreliable vendor, it might have a NFC antenna that works well on one NFC mode but doesn't have good performance for the other NFC modes.
When NFC Payment rolls out, You don't want to tap your BB 10 times on the POS (point of sale) terminal to do one payment!

Did you have to use one of those battery copier things? When u put your old battery and new battery together. I'm still curious as to why they are necessary
