Hi guys, I'm an ex-crackberry addict. I'm thinking to swtich back to blackberry from my tmobile g2x. I like the long battery life, and the awesome physical keyboard of my old 9700.

I don't think I will be buying the new bold 9900(the camera on the bold 9900 is the real deal breaker for me), and not a fan of the torch either. So I'm thinking to pick up a blackberry 9780 tomorrow for 170. Is this a good deal? New with no box(that's what the seller claims). How is 9780 camera? I don't care about hd videos because i only shoot pictures most of the time. and how is the keyboard compare to the 9700?

    Thanks.

no. 9780 are way cheaper now than before. It shouldn't be that much anywhere. Honestly, I'd go with the 9900. OS7.... NBD about a camera..

The keyboard is the same on the 9700 as the 9780 :P

If it is new without a contract, I supposed 170 isn't too bad. I would ask if the seller could go lower. But, seeing as the new devices are over $500 without a contract, I don't see why around $170 would be bad without a contract.

Agreed, $170 seems like a fair deal. In my area, the 9780's seem to be going for $200+ on craigslist. Your mileage may vary, of course.

170 is like-new without contract, that's the lowest the seller would sell. I don't see myself with the new bold 9900 due to the camera, and I think the sliding factor of the torch is not my thing either. So might pick this up then.

I think it's worth it. 9900 looks great, but I don't think you'll get three times the phone at 3x the price.

Same keyboard as your 9700 and probably BETTER battery life and camera than the 9900 at 1/3 the price. This is the perfect time to but a 9780, but check for keyboard stutter before you buy.

Just remember though you will have NO warranty and the 9780 has the keyboard stuttering issue.

No keyboard shuttering here only the menu button did it for a day then stopped with a drop of magic oil.
170 $ is very cheap indeed! I sold two 9780 not long time ago for 300/350 € each. I was planning to keep them as a backup devices but I considered it pointless due the new 9900 coming out and the rest of my beloved 9700 that is getting fixed

It depends on where you are. In Canada 9780 is still selling for 499 and therefore even 200 is fair price. I ordered 5 replacement parts for stutter problem for less than $10 so it's cheap to fix or mitigate at least.
