I am currently using .975 and switch between hybrids based on .975. Before .975 i was using .484 for that was the best out there. I am on Sprint, so the next OS is .1030 which i do not prefer for the simple fact that when using a custom theme, the charging lightning bolt disappears. And i assume the recently leaked .1041 has the same issue.

So what are the reasons you guys are using the OS that you are?

I've tried just about every OS that's come out, leaked and official, and even a few hybrids and for me .484 works the best. If it wasn't for the spontaneous reboots, I would use .1031.

My wife's been running 1062 for a couple weeks now. I installed with after a BBSAK wipe. It's been running as good as ever. For her unanticipated reboots are a low battery phenomenon so she keeps the phone topped up.

What are your reasons for using .484 vs .975? I was a big fan of .484 until .975 came out. Do you think it is faster than all newer ones? Better battery life?

I'm pretty sure my problem with .975 was the browser click issue, where I would have to click my trackball multiple times before it would select a link while browsing. I know from reading the forums that this wasn't an issue for some, but for me it was annoying.

Have been using .1062 and has been a good OS for myself. You need to reboot 4 or 5 times for it to settle in and run smoothly.

I really like .975 and with NO browser click issues. I had those issues with .983 (i believe). i know it was the Sprint OS right before .1030.

How is the battery life with .1062? And did any of you users using this OS notice dramatic differences from earlier OS's?

But cannot install apps/themes via jad/cod anymore for some reason. only when I degrade back to 4.7 can I install.

At this point I'm too lazy to go through the effort anyways and my phone is still 100% functional.

    I use OS 4.7.1.65

After the GF went from 8530 to iPhone, found myself happier with the speed of the separate SMS of 4.7 as opposed to the threaded of OS5

However, when I WAS on OS5, I used 975 as my stock, but I've basically tried a lot of the later OS and found 975 to be the most stable.

I can't even remember using OS 4 even though it was on my Tour when i originally purchased it. What apps do you use/work with OS 4? I would be interested in downgrading after i hear what you have to say.

i was liked that as well, but been stuck on .975 for a couple months now. I recently downgraded to .484, but didn't work well when changing font size in my custom designed themes. weird.

I mostly use quicklaunch and bebuzz, both of which work very well under os4. The browser speed is not half bad either, surprisingly enough. Quicktext is another amazing app if you sms a lot, and Beyond160

For standby, you have to hold down the top right mute key. Also, emails cannot be flagged, and pdf files do not show up in emails as attachments. Other than that though, I have not really wanted to go back to five. Os4 does what I wanted, its just speedier and less laggy when it comes to the sms.

Also, my average boot time is still around 4-5 minutes, which is what I was achieving with os5

Thanks for all the information. I just may take the plunge and try it out again. I do however enjoy threaded messaging, so i m trying to research if crunchsms is compatible with 4.7. if the speed is better than OS 5 and the battery is comparable, it may be a good option for me. Thanks again.

ok, so after seeing that others were using .484 i gave it a shot... again.

I have noticed that it has better battery life and a browser seems faster at loading web pages. the radio is more steady, even in my office which is located in the basement of a building.

The only 2 flaws i noticed are:

memory leaks, not bad and do not last long, but they exist (no biggie)

and font size on my custom themes. if i change font size through screen options, the text on the buttons get cut off (no biggie either)

I will continue to use .484 for a couple weeks to see if it is actually better than .975
