Orange UK didn't release .576.Orange Polland did.

I'd go for this one if I were you: Latest Official 9780 OS 6.0.0.600 from Vodafone DE

You you must stick to Orange UK software for whatever reason, their lst release was 6.0.0.448.

Get used to refering to the OS version the way we do. 6.0.0.1879 is just the bundle, the actuall OS version number is what you read in Applications.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1879 (All Languages)

    Package Version: 6.0.0.1879
    Consisting of:
    • Applications: 6.0.0.448
    • Software Platform: 6.5.0.136
    • File name: 9780jAllLang_PBr6.0.0_rel1879_PL6.5.0.136_A6.0.0.448_Orange_UK.exe

You can. The 101 link on my signature has articles on how to update using DM and other means.

Apps should remain, depends on how you do it. 101s cover that too.

    Good reading!

Why would you wanna install 576 when 600 just got released, is official, and is better?

Who cares what carrier you're on?

you can install any OS from ANY carrier as long as it is meant for the 9780 dude.

They all come from RIM at the end of the day, its just that some carriers don't have the time to do all the testing so some declare particular OSes official and some don't

When you install the OS on your computer, all you have to do is delete the vendor.xml file as suggested in the guides available here, as that file contains carrier specific configuration or information, when you delete that file, you essentially have a barebone OS coming directly from RIM

576 has bad battery life, 600 is the fastest OS to be released for the 9780 and that includes overall phone and menu snapiness, good battery life, extremely fast browsing both on WiFi and 3G
