I was using my Torch 9800. I recently pulled out my Bold 9700 as I was going to sell it on kijiji.

After I pulled it out of the box, I started to miss the phone.

I decided to take my SIM card out of my Torch and put it back into the Bold. After a device switch, loading leaked 6.0.0.600 onto the Bold...I cannot go back to my Torch.

I don't know what it is about this device, but I love it and could not sell it. In addition, I am using it again and don't think I will go back to my Torch. Is it the battery life, weight of the device, typing experience on the keyboard...I don't know!!!

Is anyone else in the same position as I am? Did anyone else go back to their Bold 9700 from a newer device?

    Thank you

I was the same way. when I was up for an upgrade (from the iphone last year) I got the Torch, I got it when it first came our because it was "new" i had it for a week, and wanted the bold 9700. traded for a 9700 from CL had it the 9700 for 6 mo. then was missing the 9800, thinking maybe i didnt give it a chance. so I traded AGAIN and went back to the Torch! lol had it for 4 months and really like it, i got used to it......but i was missing the 9700!!!!! something about that blackberry the look, the feel, the size EVERYTHING. then OS6 was released "officially for the 9700. that was the final straw, traded again and got my 9700 back and I'm got getting rid of it. I'll keep it till the 9900 comes out and the 9700 will go in the volt with my 7290! 9700 my work horse, great bb

That is too funny. I have been doing the same back and forth yo-yo thing as well.

Just something about the Bold that the Torch can't compete with.

I too am waiting on the 9900

ha ha this is funny, I thought I was the only one... I used a Torch for a while but found I was driving everything through the touch pad anyway... I just felt like the device was fragile and if I dropped it that it would smash... Once I started playing with a 9700 on OS6 I realised thats what I wanted because I still miss my old Bold 9000... I bought a big OtterBox rubber sleeve and feel at home on my 9700 with OS6... I also think the Bold 9900 will be a hit...

I guess there is just something missing from the Torch that the Bold has. Again, I can't point my finger to it exactly, but overall the Bold 9700 is a great device.

Both the 9700 and the 9800 are wonderful devices. We have a 9700 in the household so I get to use it at times. The 9800 remains my workhorse, daily device. I still prefer the combination of touchscreen and keyboard. Now if that 9700 keyboard were attached to a touchscreen...

I only used a Torch for a day swapped with my sister, I went right back to my 9700! The keyboard was WAY too cramped for me and I'm not really a fan of slider phones it felt flimsy and out of balance in hand.
Plus she's battered the Shi* outa it I'm surprised it even works!

Came from the 9700 to the 9800 and while I admit, the keyboard was a pain, I grew to get used to it and like it. I love the 9700, but I love the 9800 more. Both great devices IMO

I went from a Bold 9650 at US Cellular to the Torch. After about 6 months I had to find a way back into a Bold. 9700 it is. Such a solid device, better keyboard, awesome battery life, and all the things mentioned above. I don't see myself picking up my Torch again between now and when I can get a 9900.

I agree. Both are great devices so I guess to each their own. You are right about the keyboard on the Torch. Coming from the Bold it took some getting used to.

Again, I can't pinpoint exactly what it is about the Bold for me. I guess the package as a whole.

I did it! And it felt good! I like the Torch but its sitting in the box as I type this on my Bold. Can't bring myself to sell either though. Strange. 9700 is simple and straight forward , just what I need in my work environment. Defender case and I have no worries. That torch in a tough work environment never felt right. A good weekend device. Hahaha!

agreed, i did the same thing with my torch, i had the 9000 and upgraded to the torch (not a smart move) decided to give it to my girlfriend and took her 9700 instead lol never looked back at the torch. now when she sees the 9700 she almost wants it back but the answer is "not a chance". the torch did feel fragile and like it had to be treated very gently...i love my 9700

That is a long ride buddy. Just goes to show that out of all those great devices the Bold 9700 was ur choice in the end.

Yea I rocked the 9800 for 2-3 months and couldn't take it any longer. I just hate sliders. The only reasons why I used the 9800 at all, is I liked the big screen and 512MB RAM. My browser would constantly crap out on my 9700 w/ OS6 and multiple tabs open (OS's always shrunken). I then bought a T-mobile 9780 knowing full well I would not be able to get 3G. Eventually EDGE started to bother me. I've been back on the 9700 for about 4 months now with a tethered iTouch as a companion. I never thought I'd own anything apple, ever. But RIM really blew it by not offering the 9780 on AT&T. I need something for the times I do heavy web browsing b/c the 9700 just can't handle it.

I think those are the 2 things I only miss from the Torch...the memory and browsing.

I went from 8900 to Torch but now seriously considering 9700. I have finalized a deal from CL and might pick it today. But looking at this thread, it seems like it is better to wait for 9900.

Not sure why yours couldn't handle OS6 and browsing a lot. I have had as many as 6 websites open and many programs/apps open as well and I didn't even shrink my OS and it runs fine. Once in a blue moon I get a website where I get the message "page is too big to load" and it crashes.

I seldom get the spinning clock and I am on os6 .448 which is just blah. I used to run .586, but since getting this new BB (Old one had LCD issues) I have been to lazy to upgrade the OS.

I am also on EDGE 90% of the time...

I'm trying to find someone to trade my torch for a 9700. I miss it sooo much. I couldn't put up with the 9780 because the feel of it was too plasticy and cheap. I helped a co-worker set up his 9700 and didn't realize how much I missed it.

I am not due for an upgrade on my 9700 for another 10 months and wonder if the 9900 will be affordable even then. Considered the 9800 but have seen many reports about the sliding keyboard becoming wobbly and creaking.

Have you guys got any comments on this issue.

Sorry, I know it's a bit off topic.
