BGR's founding reader base quits reading
- Am I right guys?
Is it just me or does BGR seemingly go out of its way to bury RIM on their site?
What do RIM's investors have to do with Gadgets and technology?
I've honestly never read a full article on that site and have maybe only twice clicked a link to it, but every time I see some bad news about RIM it's always linking to a BGR article.
How about cutting those BGR links in the posts out for 'leeching?'
How about we reference BGR on CB for the last time, right here.
I've been on this site for 3 years now and the only thing that has changed it in that time is the addition of the Playbook forum. Being an owner of one I can understand the whining but I have to admit it's the only forum where the spirit (so to speak) of CB isn't present.06-18-11 06:15 PMLike 0 - This sounds dangerously close to "let's ban all mention of negative RIM news."kevinnugent and meistro like this.06-18-11 07:37 PMLike 2

I don't click links much because I don't want to read any BGR slams against RIM.06-18-11 10:31 PMLike 0
- I have quit reading as well. The quality of their articles (all, not just RIM related) has degraded significantly over the last year. They seem to splash catchy (and sometimes devious) titles, but once you get in the articles are poor and in some cases wrong or just malicious. It also appears they are getting some kick back from Apple the way they always praise them and turn a blind eye to anything negative about them. BGR is no longer a decent or reliable site.06-19-11 02:36 PMLike 0

- If BGR was the only tech site going negative on RIM/RIMM then I could almost understand. But you'd have to have been living uner a rock for the last 2+ years and especially the last 6 months to not hear/read the problems RIMM was having.
RIM and VZW pushed the Storm hard. Real hard, as a consumer oriented blackberry. And it was a miserable failure. For 3 months, if you took a picture the device would reset. Even today, there are still numerous bugs and broken items on the device, including things that were broken in later fixes that worked originally. Since other handsets developed push e-mail several years ago, many BB enthusiasts have begged RIM to fix what was broken with BB and keep up. Look at CB founder Kevin's, main page post comparing the BB platform to the emerging IOS and Android platfforms 2 years ago. BB issues: non-html e-mail, truncated e-mail, download caps, too little RAM, partitioned memory; and slow web browser. Wish lists also included larger screens, graphics acceleration, and faster hardware. It is not until OS7 releases that most of this list will be hit. Now he's the BB enthusiast among enthusiasts. So for 2 years, with each device release, how do you think other tech sites have viewed RIM's failure to address these issues? It's late June 2011. 6 months into the new year, more than a year since the last handheld was released. A year of individuals from all platforms coming off 2 and 3 year contracts looking for a device to buy. And when in the 8th or 9th month of the year these new devices roll out, they will roll out with out any upgrade path, without 4g, without front facing cameras, and into a growing sea of dual core high end devices. RIMM is now at $27, and rightly so. If you want to just ignore that all this is out there, be my guest.kil187 likes this.06-20-11 10:30 AMLike 1 - If BGR was the only tech site going negative on RIM/RIMM then I could almost understand. And having your own opinion about something and simply parroting and regurgitating tripe from an obviously anti-RIM web site are 2 different things.
So grow a brain, join the discussion with independent thought or stop whining.meistro likes this.06-20-11 10:49 AMLike 1 -
- Guess you are right. Quick check of some shows after the last cleansing some people stayed in the other sections for a while but were still posting in those sections. So I just hadn't heard from some in a while and assumed they had been banned. Some people who were banned started stuff up as soon as they could.06-20-11 12:48 PMLike 0
- It's silly to ban references to other sites, particulalry if they ocasionally have good info before its available elsewhere. I happen to share the very low opinion of BGR, not simply because of its anti-RIM bias. The overall quality of it has just eroded over time, but they still have their moments, as they have live-blogged a few events well. I do wish we would collectively decide, before we launch entirely new threads, to take anything at all posted on BGR with a hatful of grains of salt. Like as not, any thread growing out of a BGR post will be a negative one, with respect to RIM, and the sourcing doesn't help make the point and instead undermines it. IMHO.
I presume BGR has devolved the way it has either because their are more readers for that sort of stuff, or they are otherwise incentivized to take their approach. For me, it is increasingly a headline only skim, and drifting toward the bottom of my newsreaders and will fall off on its own.K Bear likes this.06-20-11 03:34 PMLike 1 - avt123O.G.Guess you are right.
