Install instructions to load this OS onto any 8700 BB:
1. Back up data on Desktop Manager under Back up/restore option
2. Back up your 3rd party apps. Instructions here--> http://forums.crackberry.com/f3/how-...cations-53201/
3. Disconnect your BB from Desktop Manager
4. Download desired OS to your PC
5. Install/run OS to PC
6. Delete vendor.xml file. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
7. Connect BB to Desktop Manager and it should prompt the upgrade. If not click app loader and that should initialize it.
8. Do not unplug BB during the process. It will take around 30-60 minutes to complete upgrade.
**Step 2 is recommended but not required

i did it it worked flawlessly i can send and receve files with bluetooth and it is now recognized by desktop 4.5s media manager which it did not do before it is all and all awesome also you can no longer unlock the key board with the scroll whee alone which i actually like better you have to press * talk to unlock the only thing i will miss is i did like the old stlye list themes but i will get over it with my fancy new old blackberry it is as close to a curve as an 8700 will get
ps for those who care also added voice notes which is pretty cool for the forgetfull people who dont want to take the time to type a memo
how long does this process usually take? i have been sittin here for almost an hour and my BB has the hour glass spinning while my PC says Wait for device initialization.
I did the upgrade and am really happy with it! BUT I believe i've lost my mind, i cannot figure out how to rearrange my applications or even hide some of them. I'm sure i'm just missing it but any insight would be of great assistance.

press alt and the scroll wheel in it gives you the menu to hide move or add folder it took me some playing to figure this out to its not exactly in your face
Is this compatible with an AT&T 8700c? thanx in advance.....
yes i have an 8700c and it works so well i have curves as well and it upgrades you to that style look and feel except with the scroll wheel it is so nice it takes getting used to but it is soooo worth the upgrade man it is sweet
I received my blackberry from my IT department, who set it up for me. It's running 4.2.1.96 and I'd like to update it. Does anyone know whether this will erase all my email settings? And if so, can I put my work email back on with just my username and password? (Or do I need some special Enterprise password or some other IT-department-only information?)
I downloaded the software and it is on my desktop, then I deleted the vendor.xml file and it still wont show up on my Desktop Manager I clicked app loader and nothing happened, and I tried to restart the desktop manager, any clues on how to get this software on this 8700c
