Long story short, I have two things running against me:

    1) I did an OTA update to my blackberry and rebooted it halfway because it was hung. The device starts now but the only application to load is email... nothing else. I can connect to it fine as a USB mass storage device.

    2) I don't have a Windows machine. I only have Ubuntu running with Windows 7 inside Virtual Box. This works fine for most things, but unfortunately, doesn't work for Blackberry Desktop.

Is there a utility I can install on Windows (through virtual box) that will let me completely wipe the Blackberry 9650 and then re-install OS 6 that isn't Desktop Manager?

I've never had any luck getting windows via virtual box to work where it involved loading the os on the blackberry.

I finally just set up a dual boot. It's the only thing that I boot into windows for.
