with crappy Hardware, I would assume they were optimizing it for the 512(or bold 624's
it works out in the end so I'm not complaining.05-02-11 02:05 PMLike 0 - This has a big reason to do with OS 7 browser performance...
RIM Speeding Up BlackBerry Browser with New Patents
RIM filed browser rendering patents last year!05-02-11 02:24 PMLike 0 -
- Didn't RIM say that the same thing about the browser speed in OS6 as well? We all know how that turned out. I'll wait for a few independent reviews before I'll believe anything generated by a Marketing department (doesn't matter which manufacturer).
...in other news my mom says I'm the smartest, best looking guy in the world.05-02-11 08:43 PMLike 0 - Didn't RIM say that the same thing about the browser speed in OS6 as well? And some of the testing done by review sites like Endgaget is really terrible... Like their battery life tests that do a single-pass run through the battery and use the phone ENTIRELY different from one phone to the next, then use that as a basis to compare battery life on different phones...05-02-11 08:57 PMLike 0 - The list of advantages for the BlackBerry browser is getting quite long:
- Overall data efficiency: This is obviously very important for those on a limited data plan
- Keyboard shortcuts: Being able to quickly switch between tabs by pressing "W", or scrolling to the top or bottom of the page with "T" and "B" gives the usability of the browser a huge boost. This far outweighs the loss of screen real estate when the keyboard has to be sacrificed.
- Trackpad cursor: Not having to zoom to select one link that's bunched together with a bunch of other ones or just not having to move your entire thumb to navigate the page is awesome.
Now with these kind of claims about browsing speeds, along with HSPA+, the only thing that would be left to complete the browsing experience would be Flash, and I can live without that for now. :P05-02-11 09:09 PMLike 0 - The Webkit browser is MUCH faster on my friend's 9700 (with 624mhz cpu) running the latest leak than on my 9650 (528mhz cpu), also running the latest leak for it, so it leads me to believe that CPU speed makes a difference somewhat.05-07-11 01:32 PMLike 0
- speed makes a big difference IMO. I truly think that the torch if it would be fully clocked instead of underclocked it would perform much much better. battery life would suck worse but dammit that is the choice the consumer should get to make, not let RIM hold back the performance.05-07-11 01:44 PMLike 0

I got my first bill after buying the Atrix. If I hadn't been on an unlimited plan, I would have paid up the wazoo. I could not believe the difference between the previous months on my BB and the one month on the Atrix.
Unbelievable. The importance of data compression on the BB was staring me right in the face.
****Edit: By the way, I'm loving the BB browser after the last OS update. YouTube is phenomenal on it.
now.....if I only had flash....Last edited by Qbnkelt; 05-07-11 at 01:53 PM.
05-07-11 01:51 PMLike 0 - Agreed. It's equally laughable when iOS and Android enthusiasts use it when making their comparisons against BB.05-07-11 02:47 PMLike 0
- I don't think there is anything dumb about it. When I'm in a hurry and need information or media from a specific site fast, a couple seconds can be huge when dealing with multiple pages on that site.
It might be a 2-3 second gap on one page but when dealing with multiple pages the gap will grow to the point where the device with the faster browser will complete the job much quicker.
So I disagree.
BTW, my 9550 on OS5's browser is atrocious to todays standards so I'm really excited for using a BB7 handset for my everyday tasks.05-07-11 03:50 PMLike 0 -

I remember everyone talking about how OS6 browser on the TORCH was "screaming" fast . Well we all know that in the real world OS6 was faster than OS5, but that it was still far behind the "other" guys browser speeds.05-07-11 06:55 PMLike 0
- As far as I'm concerned my favourite browser is iOS' Safari. That browser is phenomenal.
The browser on my Atrix was phenominally fast, but it suddenly began to slow down. That, coupled with the fact that you can't have more than eight (or ten?) windows open really soured me to the Atrix's browser.
So....I'm back to my Torch. The last OS update really improved the YouTube experience and I honestly don't miss the Atrix's initial speed.
