Has anyone been successful in fully backing up their PlayBook using the most recent desktop software?

Mine always tells me "There was an error backing up - There could have been a problem with the device or connection during the backup. Verify that the device is turned on and connected."

Play around with the backup settings.

I initially got the same error message, but after several tries, with different settings, it is working for me now. I'm not at home on my main desktop, so I can't tell you what settings I have, but will update this when I get home.

Windows 7 Ultimate and Vista Ultimate both 32 bit DM v6.1.0.20 PlayBook 1.0.1.1710. During backup it gets to approx 609M of 2.5G and then fails on both computers.

I use Windows 7 64 Bit and use Desktop manager V 6.0.2.42 never have a problem. RIM used to said that the customer should update DM to the latest version in order to able to for the Playbook

When I loaded DM, it asked to upgrade and I did, so it was probably the newest version.

I've never had a problem backing up the PlayBook until after today's update to Desktop Software 6.0.2.44. Got the error message. Both PC and PB were restarted--no luck. Anyway, thanks for pointing out that if apps are not included in the backup it is successful. I hope the next update fixes this!

I've had problems with the most current release of DM. Tried a number of different combinations of things, sequence of connecting/turning on stuff, entering password, etc.. until I finally got it back up (mostly, anyway - got one error instead of 3).

I think there is some specific configuration or setup that it expects to see for it to work smoothly. Will likely take another release or two of DM for this to be all worked out.

My Music is duplicating and triplicating. It's eating all my storage space. I went from 64 gig to almost nothing at all. Whats up with the new DM update? I have tried 3 times and same old thing. About done with playbook!

Having the same problem here. Running latest updates on Desktop Manager (6.0.2.44, Bundle 45), and on PlayBook (1.0.3). I do have an older laptop (Windows XP). I finally "unchecked" backing up Application Data and it finally worked (I did not back up media). So all I've backed up are the settings. This needs to be fixed.

I am loving my PlayBook! This is the only "big" issue I've come across.

If you are having this issue use your 90 day free support. They emailed me Sunday to let me know I was not the only one having the application backup issue..that they were working on a fix for it.
But they need to know about how many are having this issue.

Submit a support request so they see how wide spread this issue is..

    Any solution to this yet?

So if I don't back up my apps and do a security wipe will I still be able to re-download the apps I already paid for for free from app world?

No problems here on an XP Box, v6.0.2.xx (not sitting at that computer right now, so don't know last build set number). Application Data 'checked' for backup.
