I'm in the UK. Just got an unlocked AT&T Torch 9800 from ebay, tried putting my current Bold 9000 O2 sim into it but it says "insert sim card". I guess I need a newer sim from O2? Or is there anything else I can try in the meantime?
Unlock confirmed with the mepd code, all entries say disabled. Sim orientation confirmed with the funky little video clip the phone displays :-)
Some sim cards I found simply won't work. I unlocked my Torch and then inserted a friends sim card from Telus to test it out. It did the same thing you described. I then located a work colleague who also had a Telus sim and tried that one. It worked just fine.

Pretty sure you need a different SIM. My old Sim from my previous phone didn't work. Something about being a different network.

I'm pretty sure that would mean you didn't unlock your BlackBerry. I have my unlocked, wanted to test it out so I used my friends Rogers Sim, which isn't even from a smartphone, and it worked perfectly.
O2 said they'd send a new sim so I expect that'll sort it. Now I just have to decide if I want to keep the Torch or if the latest Bold would suit me better! Thanks everyone.
