I personally did that.. Came to a torch after using 9700 for a year.. went ahead to the 9780 just after 2 weeks of using the torch!! Its a personal choice though..!!

I used the Torch for 7 days then returned it for a 9700 again as the 9780 weasn't out at that time.

A month later, as soon as the 9780 was released in Dubai I bought it even though I still ahd the 9700 (I know, sounds crazy), then I sold my 9700 later

Exactly what I did last week. Coming from Torch. Was going to wait for the Touch Bold. I prefer the bold keyboard. Decided to go this way even knowing the screen is a lot smaller. Figure the playbook is coming out soon.

By comparison, the screen IS much smaller, however, once you get used to it, you figure you can do anything on that screen

Big enough for me at least

After using iPhone 3GS for 3 months, I've developed this aversion to touch screen phones. Dakota seems nice but I think I'll stick with Bold 9780.

I love the form-factor of the 9780, so that's what I would go with 100% over the Torch.

its on preference i guess but if you ask me, 9780 all the way!
i prefer physical qwerty keyboard over a touch screen and even if it has an attached keyboard, i wouldnt want to carry a bulky device and ive always have this thing against slide phones, they tend to loosen up or have wire issues with the slide.
