I have used METRO, BLOGBERRY, HTC DESIRE, and while looking the part, they just don't function 100%.

I have just re-enabled the Original stock 6.0 theme that comes with the torch, and I can't believe how more fluid everything is.
You don't have to click away from stuff on the homescreen, just to enable an icon on the homescreen, battery-life is better.. Everything JUST works, the way it should.

I'm hoping some of this is down to the themebuilder not being finished yet.

The biggest difference of course is that you can use the trackpad on the stock theme.

So, after 6 months of hard use of other themes, I'm back to where I started.

Let's hope themebuilder sorts out some of the quirks.

ThemeBuilder II allows for trackpad use. "Slate" is an example of a theme that was updated using Themebuilder II and the trackpad is enabled on the homescreen. And BBT's "Tint" theme will be updated very soon and it too has the trackpad enabled.
IMO I just do not like the multi-screen aspect of the stock theme and have no negative battery life on some of the custom themes either.

That's really up to the theme builder. I use Hexa-Gone lately, and the trackpad support and overall interface are excellent IMO.

    Same 4 me.
I'm also using Hexa-Gone. You could also try 4+4 of KahneFan, it also supports trackpad and it's a great looking theme . Or try some of akbarmecha's themes also trackpad friendly and good looking themes, free and premium versions.
    Hope that this helped u

It sounds like you need to update to some newer themes. All of my themes has trackpad and landscape supported. My Echo4 is based on the orginal tray version of os6. Its just skinned with different icons and menus. It runs fast for me. You can give it a try. Echo5 drops the trays.

I wasn't going to answer your question at first but I didn't like the tone, but hey, if you really don't understand, then I'll break it down for you.

I have tried quite a few different 'premium' themes in the the last six months.

They don't work as well as the stock theme.

This is not the fault of the theme-maker/designer.

I like what they do, and the way they try to add more functionality.

The above is stating my personal opinions based on facts of using said themes for a number of months... not hours / days.

If you still don't get it....

    Try reading it slower...

    That OK for you?

If you haven't got anything constructive to answer except for stupid one-liners, then I suggest you wind your neck in.

@ Echo.. I will try one of your themes, thanks for the heads-up.

I dunno, real-life getting in the way of sitting 24/7 on a forum.
    Working...
    Family..
    Socialising..

    The list goes on.

Anyway go back and see if you can make your signature even more horrendous. That has to be the most eye-gougingly immature piece of waste of time I have ever seen.

Go on, have a go, I mean..it can't get any worse... can it???

This thread has lost it's way. So no more replies on this.

It's just a shame that some immature runt has joined crackberry, when he/she obviously meant to sign at cbeebies.co.uk

Joined 15/02/2011 with a 'l33t' name, obviously still $h1tt1ng yellow as they have to have a 'Z' at the end of their name because it makes them think they're cool.

So carry on.. Like I said, I won't be replying to anything you say, consider yourself on ignore.

I do recommend cbeebies.co.uk though, you might find the content a tad too mature for you, but stick with it, you'll get there.

    Thread Closed.

From what I can tell (from building themes), it boils down to which themes are built in Theme Builder only and which are built with Composer, then exported to Theme Builder. For some reason my themes, which are built in Composer first, don't seem to operate nearly as well (with the track pad) as those built solely in Theme Builder. For example, a lot of people like my L of a Theme, but it's not always as responsive as 6ish. 4+4 was partially built in Composer, then exported to TB where I added the buttons, so it appears to work well so far.

My complaints with the bnase theme are no weatherslot, no today screen, and way too may tabs. I think you haven't tried enouigh themes. There are lots of free ones that are responsive, use the track pad, and add functionality without cluttering. For instance: http://forums.crackberry.com/f220/fr...9800-a-588776/

Certainly in the early days, a lot of crap got posted as premium before buiilders figured ouit how to get arouind the bugs.

    Yeah, that makes sense.

Hopefully when the finished themebuilder arrives it will iron out all the quirks.
I think the themeing community has done a great job trying to work around the bugs, and I love what they are trying to achieve.

Fingers crossed it gets finished soon, so they're all snappy on the home screen.

The 3 premium themes I mentioned all ahve their own merits and are to be commended getting to the state they are in right now with buggy software (themebuilder).

Gonna stick with the stock until it is finished though.

Cheers for the feedback from someone who themes

In my opinion all of KahneFan's themes are great. Fast and the trackpad works. He is also a peach of a guy and will tweak a theme a tad for you, like text color, hidden today...(minor things)
Give a few of his a test run and see...Im sure you will find one you like.
KEB64's themes are all really great with variations.
    KahneFan likes this.

Thanks! I try to build most of my themes in TB only if possible. Some of my themes (L of a theme for example) I have no choice but to use Composer in order to give it more features. Typically I try not to use Composer if at all possible though. Granted, you can't get all the "cool" features, but you get better trackpad functionality and a much faster UI, which I personally prefer.

Yeah, that's what I'm preferring now I'm back on the stock UI. Pressing something once and it actioning the press is highly preferable to having to click away and then back onto it to achieve the same result.
Another gripe with the other themes is the way the icons change from big to small and thus only show 3 across in stead of the 4. The four are actually there but they're off the screen. The only way to sort this is to exit out and enter again. The first time you go into a menu the icons are never showing either. I was happy to put up with this, well, I 'thought' I was happy to put up with it, until I went back to the original.

/hoping the RIM themebuilders are reading this, so they can iron out all the quirks.

I'll check some of your themes out later.

    Cheers

P.S. Nice to have the thread back on track

Hey all, the issues surrounding the themes that we are currently using and that have bugs are not problems caused by theme Devs but problems caused by RIM as it was RIM in their infinate wisdom to release theme builder 2 in Feb 2011 many months after the release OS6.0 which has meant that Devs are playing catch up, I've used blackberry for about 7 years and when a new OS gets released there has always been some issues with themes released prior, yes there is issues with the Torch's landscape mode but that is a small issue that will eventually be ironed out once devs get used to building themes with Theme builder 2 but at the end of the day its upto RIM to help sort this out.
I've been usuing BGT, Adorno, Hedone Design, Mobster mobile Design and Rayphothemes on my Torch and all work well apart from few little issues in landscape mode on in two themes so I suggest that you carefully read what the Devs say on their release notes before you download themes.
My biggest issue is that I have to reboot device everytime I change theme so sort it out RIM!

So, does ThemeBuilder 2 fully support landscape, and trackpad on the 9800?

I was using GDKs theme (and very nice it is too), and it still shows 3x3 icons at first and I have to exit out, and re-enter to get the 4x4. In landscape sometimes the icons are too small too. The homescreen works very well with the trackpad.
Anybody know off chance what he used for skinning? (I will bring his attention to the this thread anyway).

    cheers

Cheers for taking the time to answer the question.

Do you know what causes the 'quirks'? IS it because you use two applications to build the theme?
