Well, that is old news. Same as the .448 leak, nothing more than support from a carrier.

With the same OS on your BB you'd be running just as well whether your carrier had officially released that particular version or not. All OS's are made by RIM. Your carrier's network is not specifically optimized for one OS version or another.

Yes, just download the OS from elsewhere. Rogers has released 448 now too, or you can try the higher version 461 that Telus has released.
You just have to delete the Vendor file before loading to your device.

And welcome to CB by the way!

If you go directly to RIM's website the OS6 upgrade doesn't appear you have to go directly from Bell's site and then Bell redirects you to another RIM page then you can download it.
Go to the following link on Bell's page: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/BlackBer...item_sku=68823

Why does Blackberry's site ask so much information before allowing for the download?!

Do I need to keep the OS6 installation on my desktop after the installation to the phone is completed?

No idea. I've always entered my truthful information. I assume they have some legal reason to ask, but 99.9% of the time do nothing with the information.

No you don't need to. I always keep the OS installed on my PC at least until the next time I download an OS.

I do however keep all my folders of Removed Java files from every OS that I shrunk out.
