Hello,
I just tried the curve 9300 and the trackpad was working horrible. Increasing the "sensitivity" would not make the trackpad more sensitive, it only makes it scroll faster.
Is there a fix for this? The curve 8520 did not have this problem.
Yes, the Curve 8520 and 9700 / 9780 have different Trackpads....they are flat....which is VERY good!
The Curve 9300 have a bulged out trackpad if you notice...
IT makes the motion very irresponsive and jerky...and if your finger is even a bit damp....it will not work...try putting your shirt over the trackpad and then move it it will work....
I returned my 9300 on day one because of this and got a Bold....
Unfortunately, most Curve 9300 have this issue...even if you replace it and give you another one..it may be better, but it will be in no way comparable to the trusty 8520 or Bold trackpad which works no matter how damp your finger is....
My advice? Return the device and get something else.
650 USD?? not really...I hear they are selling the 9780s for $499
Anyway, yes there is a cheaper option...
Get a used 9700 in good condition....that one has the flat trackpad, 3.2 megapixel camera + flash + autofocus, 3G, good keyboard, better resolution screen, better battery.
Only Touch 9780 and 8520 (Trackpad Devices)
They're both the same, 97xx and 85xx have the same type of trackpad?
85xx do have alot of problems with the Trackpad since it's the first BlackBerry Device to come out with a Trackpad is it?. In 85xx, If the Trackpad is not working, Battery Pull will solve the Problem
I purchased a Bold 9780 last month and experience the same problem; however I have the same issue with any biometric device. The issue is that my fingerprints are not raised enough, and it is especially obnoxious with I have put lotion on my hands. My solution....very HIGH tech....I take a fine black marker or black ink pen and draw horizontal lines on my thumb....works great, except for the messy look. Try it, use the other thumb and see the difference.
IMHO, the trackpad on the 9300 is a huge upgrade from the 8520. It takes a little bit to get used to, and the sensetivity issue had to do with some early OS versions. What OS are you running?

How are you in such authority that you can say "most curves have this issue" how do you possibly know that? Just because you had a bad experience with your handset doesn't mean you can right off everyone elses.

I have never had the reason to question something written by Matrix. As a trusted CB poster, I would trust the rank, experience, and advice. Do different people have different experiences, yes. However, we do see patterns here and try and share those experiences.
No, thats not what I am saying. Just please Matrix the benefit of the doubt. Curves are made in two different plants, and one set of them had a trackpad issue.
