I've had my phone for over a year and I have never before seen this notification, or whatever. The 172 and this little kinda voicemail looking like symbol. Didn't see it on the list of common BB notification symbols either.

Hmm...just doing a guess here.

1. Balance of voicemails
2. Balance of picture slots (photo taking)

Some reasons I felt it is more to #2 but haven't seen such before. Sorry can't help much.

Probably visual voicemail box, if your carrier provides that feature. Could've just appeared with the change of a theme.

Maybe try another theme. If it's not, I don't know. Maybe somebody could link an image with the icons?

It looks like a voicemail count, but it doesn't look like the default voicemail icon
Are you using any third-party voicemail apps? A bunch of undeleted voicemails? Have you tried a battery pull?
