Randomly my bold will drop service. When the service picks back up it doesn't say EDGE it says GSM... I'm just curious to why this happens.

    I have a T-Mobile unlocked 9700 running on AT&T.

It could be your sim card, pull batt out and sim card and put it back in.
Maybe also try sending for service books

Or it could be the area your in

Call your carrier and tell them what is happening, after trying a battery pull, to see if anything has gone messy with your service or BIS.

    Try this:

    Go to Manage Connections.

    >Mobile Network Options

    >Network Selection Mode: MANUAL

    >Choose Available Networks

From here, choose any other Networks. (Other than the one you are currently using). I recommend choosing a Network which you think has the best signal/coverage. Choose other network for a while (you will get SOS). Leave it for a few seconds. After that, choose your Network again.

    Hope this helps.

Selecting the mobile carrier as a manual selection with the carrier you are using should fix this issue with your unlocked Blackberry Bold 9700...

seems that your device is changing carriers connection..
