Do you have a new request open? (friend or group)

have you deleted all open chats that dont have a new notification on them?
    and then pulled the battery?

Sometimes it takes 2-5 battery pulls to clear a rogue icon.
Also try going back to your stock theme

Sounds like you need to update the software on your phone.

yeh , I heard about this problem alot ! actually it happened to me many times before

upgrade your OS or if you dont want to

backup your device with blackberry desktop manager

or backup your contacts Locally or from Email

then delete bbm and re-install !

    good luck.

and upgrading your OS is simple and not from the desktop manager or from the device itself ,

Download the latest OS from Crackberry http://forums.crackberry.com/f100/la...chison-504796/

    Install it on your computer

    Go to
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
Delete Vendor.xml then open loader file

if you did not find the Folder , maybe you have 64bit Windows

    C:\Program Files x86\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader

    and follow the steps

((it's always better to backup your device before upgrading))
