I need to transfer all my data from my old Curve 8530 another handset of the same model.

I've run the full backup using blackberry desktop, and it shows up as .ipd files on my computer, but will these be transferable to the new handset? (Also, why can't I access these files on my computer?)

Is there any blackberry technical support number I can call to get help with this?

Yes the backup file can be restored onto the new Blackberry.

Or you can use the switch device wizard in DM.
Either method will get it done

I had to do the same thing this past weekend. Took old phone to Verizon, Used Verizon Backup Assistant to move old contacts (that's all backup Assistant can do). That way I had my contacts on the new phone immediately. Then when I got home, used DM to restore all apps and data from last backup that was done a week prior. The only thing I lost was my Calendar appointments and that was because I had added new ones after the backup I had done the week previously.
