My Torch connects to the wifi network at home( it says connected, it shows the reception bars, it displays the SSID) but i cant browse the internet..it says unable to connect to server. BUt sometimes(very rarely) the tiny blackberry symbol shows up next to the wifi reception bars and then everything works( i can browse the internet).
I have a data plan....and my torch works fine with other wifi networks( then it always shows the BB symbol) but doesnt always work with my home wifi...i did the wifi diagnostic thing when it connects(BB symbol displayed), and it says the blackberry infrastructure is connected...but when the BB symbol isnt there, the wifi dianostic thing says blackberry infrastructure not connected.
    Please help!!!

I've had the same problem too but after I upgraded my router software it worked fine. You can do that within your router's settings page.

Yes I was. But this is what would happen. My router is upstairs in the living room and when I go downstairs it would randomly dissconnect because the range was "too far". So after I upgraded the firmware or reinstalled the firmware (not sure which) it worked flawlessly never disconnected randomly anymore. To find the latest firmware update go to the manufacture's website (mine is linksys) and download from there. They may also ask for your router's model number. Good Luck.

If your connected to wifi and you do not have the BIS icon(4 little dots) next to wifi then you will not be able to surf the net over wifi.

Try to change another Channel on your router. It can also be caused by interference from your neighbors.

Ok I have the same problem at home. The funny thing is, that my parents have the exact same wireless router as I do, and I can connect to theirs no problem, the phone (Torch 9800 )keeps telling me that it "Cannot associate with the network".

    HELP!

I'm having the same problem. Can connect to WiFi everywhere BUT home. My home WiFi works fine for my laptop, my daughter's laptop, my g/f's laptop and her BB Bold 9700...no dice with my Torch. This is the only place my Torch won't connect (it connects to the network, but cannot reach the internet). I've reset, rebooted, restarted, reconfigured, and redid everything a dozen times. Still nothing. Help?

Forgive me for asking, and I may have easily missed it, but is your home network a "secure" one as opposed to an "open" one? If it is, that could be the problem. My home wi-fi is "open" and immediately was found by my BB 9800.

Connecting to my router isn't the problem, its once connected it causes all wireless devices connected to my router to stay connected to the router but not able to access the internet including my torch.

    Thanks

Having an open network is a very bad idea.

    Hi Guys,

i had the same problem. But please call your Service Provider (mine: Sunrise ch) and tell them that there will send a new Servicebook (Update) on your Blackberry.

That are the steps what i must do that the Blackberry run.

1.Provider send the Update to your Phone.
2.Remove the battery while the Blackberry is in operation.
3.Put the battery back into the Blackberry and start it.
4.After starting your Blackberry you will have the new Update.
    5.Connect to your network.
    6.And have fun.

Agreed wholeheartedly, Next we'll be reading about someones bank info was stolen, or going to jail because they were found to be downloading kiddie porn, due to their torch being connected to their wifi, when in reality is was because they had an "open" network.

Yes it happens all the time, You should never have an open home network. Not only can people leech your net(slowing you down), but they can also use your net for criminal activities and you will(if caught) be prosecuted for it.
