For a long time now Sling Media has been stating they are working with RIM to develop a slingbox that will work with blackberry devices, Slingbox CEO Blake Krikorian even brought this up on his recent appearence on the GigaOM show, seems as though that may be coming sooner then later as the people over at Pocket Lint are reporting, a comment from their recent posting states that people who've seen the application working are "blown away by the performance".
I just switched to a BB 8830 from a Treo 700w - the hardest part of the switch was giving up my Slingbox mobile player. I just wish I knew how long we would have to wait.
I used Sling player on Verizon with EVDO so connection speeds were great. - But on a 700W with only 240 by 240 resolution. The image was very sharp - but small. The only real problem I had was trying to read a football or baseball score in those little boxes at the top of the screen. If you stayed in one place ( like an airport waiting area) you could watch for a long tme without any problems. If you were in a car (not driving of course) the stream might get hung up periodically. You frequently could still hear the audio but the image would freeze. (That is an option even if you have a weaker signal or slower connection). It would correct itself but then it might freeze up again a few miles down the road.
All in all though it was great - and it had a huge WoW factor for impressing others.
Sling Box is a device you hook up to your TV and an internet connection an you can watch your tv from any computer in the world that is also connected to the internet. Also you can watch from your phone if you have mindows mobile. Still waiting for a BB platform though. Go to Sling Media - Home of the Slingbox for mor info!!
Hey this Site is amazing... good god, im an adicct to this site TOO...jajaja just Kidding...
Pin me...get an Argentine Crackberry, and enjoy! jajaja Kidding again...
It sure would be sporty of RIM to make an application that will allow existing phones to have Sling access when there is a BB compatible device on the market
I have heard of this thing but finally looked into it. if they develop this for BB then I will always have something to do. In fact I think I might be far less productive at work if this happens...but I know what to ask for on Christmas if this is developed.
I cannot wait for Sling Media to come out with client for BB. I had sling on my Treo 700p and I must tell you it is a wonder or behold.
I have the Sling Box Pro & Solo.
It would violate the terms and conditions. No audio or video streaming is allowed of course as long as you stay under your 5 GB then your fine even thhen they just cripple your bandwidth.
