As many of you may have seen from my posts on the 9800 forum, I'm very happy with the phone. However, in getting it I've started which 3rd party apps absolutely NEED to be on my phone.

That said, my poll is to find out which of the more popular instant messaging apps do you use to keep in touch with your friends??

I realize it depends on the app that your friends or networking circle uses as none of the apps are compatible with eachother, but as a result you would probably be using the same app

Windows live messenger, yahoo, aim, and google talk. I like yahoo and google talk, because the mobile versions allow me to send im's to my contacts even if they're offline.

BBM only. Tried Kik, didn't like it at all, the feature where it looks through your contacts to see who else has Kik was a negative for me, although I see how some people like it alot. Have a lot of friends from back in HS (senior in college now) who I don't talk to, haven't deleted their numbers though, and it sends a message to them that I'm on Kik now and can talk. Same with people who I have no desire to talk to who just happen to be in my phone (mom's best friend... uh no). That and it was a battery drain and uninstalled it.

No need for anything else, love my BBM, have unlimited texts for the dummies that don't have BlackBerry's

Yahoo Messenger works great on my Bold 9650. Haven't tried Windowd Live Messenger although it came preinstalled as did AIM and Google Talk
