- Hello all Curve 3G forum dwellers. I have option to leave my 8520 behind and get a 9300. Other then OS 6, and RAM which is a no brainer, what makes the 9300 so much better? Is it worth my investment? Please leave opinions. Thanks in advance.11-15-10 04:01 PMLike 0
- Both phones have the same amount of RAM. What you will gain though is GPS. I upgraded from the 8330 to the 9300 and the upgrade is phenomenal. I couldn't believe what I was missing on the old phone.11-15-10 05:39 PMLike 0
- Just a little advice before you do the upgrade.
If you were able to try the phone at the shop that would be a great idea.
The 9300's trackpad is not very easy to use lik the 8520. Try them out at the shop, you will notice how smooth the 8520 trackpad is to control, whereas the 9300 trackpad with its little bulged out feel, doesn't respond sometimes or isn't as smooth.
Maybe I had a defective version, maybe now, just warning you to try out the phone at the shop.11-15-10 10:56 PMLike 0 - If it is bulged out as ML said above it is pretty annoying.
Not as annoying as when it was crooked but my 9650 has a slight(major) bulge.

- my 9330's trackpad is the best trackpad/ball i've used on any berry. the only problem i have with 9330 and 85xx are no flash, no dedicated lock button ( the a key doesnt work from all menus) and i cant use the keyboard vs the 9650's. but the trackpad is definitely the best part, along with the better speaker.11-17-10 07:01 PMLike 0
- oh yeah, plus if you're leaving an 8520, you'll finally have 3G. i hated it on tmo, having only edge and sometimes wifi.11-17-10 07:02 PMLike 0

- I like how the trackpad is a little more raised than the 9650 and the 8530. I haven't had a problem with it yet.11-17-10 07:31 PMLike 0
- I really think that if you can afford it, go with the 9780. It got bigger memory, better screen and camera with flash, too...
Having said that, My 9300 experience is really good. I love the Curve keyboard more than the Bold's, and the trackpad? Yes, the 8520 have a more fluent trackpad, but you will soon get used to the 9300 trackpad.
In my phone, after installing all of my usual app, the OS6 doesn't leave much space behind, so that probably something you should keep an eye on. The operation of OS6 itself is no problem. Smooth and fluid, sometimes it lags but that probably just because my app memory space is running low. A battery pull will take care of that.
For me, the addition of 3G and GPS is really good. It's nice to have the 3G there in case you needed the faster browsing speed. But I usually turn off 3G and just use GPRS/EDGE to conserve battery power.11-17-10 07:32 PMLike 0 - agreed. that and the better speaker are the only 2 things better on the 9330. but i'd say go for a 9780 if you can. it's like the 9650 is to the 9330. alot better..11-17-10 07:36 PMLike 0

Thanks for the opinions, and I look forward to becoming a bigger part of my new 9300/30 forum.11-17-10 09:39 PMLike 0
