How frequent are your battery pulls?

When you hold the BB button for 3-5 seconds and the task manager shows up, how many applications are running?

Install OS 6, it is the fastest and gives you the new Webkit browser, your battery life will be better as well.

Download the Operating System from the below link:

    9700M_PBr6.0.0_rel1202_PL6.6.0.50_A6.0.0.344.exe - download
Make sure you create a backup before you perform the below!
    Instructions For Installation:

    1) Install the *.exe file you just downloaded.
    2) Navigate to Computer >>> C: >>> Program Files >>> Common Files >>> Research in Motion >>> Apploader
    3) Delete the file named vendor.xml
    4) Connect your BlackBerry through the USB port
    5) Run loader.exe
    6) Follow the on-screen instructions and enjoy.

Empty messages - they do slow devices down; getting something new won't fix that, and it'll happen to any new one eventually.

you dont need a 9780 to fix the issue.

I would back up persona data in DM, wipe the phone with bbsak (BlackBerry Swiss Army Knife)

    reload .938 or .979

    restore personal data
see how it runs, and how adding 3rd party apps affects the performance.

@ Amaury > Do you have the Facebook app installed?

Facebook downloading News Feed causes 95% of the 9700's freezing/slow down issues.

Before you wipe/re-install anything: go into Facebook. Menu key > Options > Scroll ALL the way down. Set "Check for new feeds" to Never.
