Black. I can't see me with white. They do not stay white long and the battery door will start to change color the day you start using it. It is made out of a different material and will look bad quickly. No cleaning will help.

I would consider a deep red, like one of the older 8700 units but not white. I do see why a girl would like white. LOL!

Ha! If the white releases at AT&T, I'll get white. I've never had a white phone. My problem will be if they don't release a white right away...I don't know if I'll have the patience to wait.
I'm concerned that the white will show dirt and niicks more easily than black.

Meh. An Easy Erasing Pad/Magic Eraser (polymeric foam) and a tiny bit of water does the trick.

I have seen the actual plastic change color from contact with body oil and the air we breath!

Your must have been special as the one I had the body of the phone (RIM) was the usual painted white while the plastic battery cover was white plastic and changed color. Not the outside but ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Rub on that!

That's odd.. I've never owned a white phone, but I've helped two friends that do. One with a white 9700 and one with a white My Touch. Both cleaned very easily with an Easy Erasing Pad. Helped a few people here on CB that said it worked for them too. You might have the special one.

I may be just too conservative, but I cannot see myself getting a white smartphone, especially a BlackBerry. I like black. The weird thing is I think that they look cool, but it isn't me.

im so torn. initially i was soooo sold on the black but after thinking about it i kind of like the white as it is more "girly." the main thing i cannot STAND about the white is the chrome. like someone up there said, i seriously need a break from chrome. i hated it on my 8900. PLUS when the chrome starts to chip off its just oogly. no one likes a mangey blackberry. however, there is still something really appealing about the white one.

I just bought one 9780 - a black one from a T-Mobile store today morning. I did take a look at the white 9780 and it looks identical to the 9700. So I decided to take the black because its dark bezel makes it look cooler. I do love the white one but, at this time the black 9780 win for me!

PS: The trackpad is much better like the 9700. It's not that tight as I expected but it's movement seems very reasonable to keep your scrolling more comfortable. Just my 2cents
