So I upgraded to os 5.0.0.979 last saturday and at first my boot time wasn't bad (around 3 min) now its worse then my original .862 (around 3-4) I just did a reboot and it took 5 min exactly! That's rediculous. Anyone else having this issue?

Check to see whether you have memory cleaning enabled. It slows down boot time quite a bit as far as I know. Mine's not too bad without it. 2 mins.

As far as I know it is on, cause I've never had this issue before. Ill try the memory cleaner and see how it does then. Thx for the help tho

A fresh install boot time always is faster than one that's been reloaded with apps and all that fun stuff.

I'm running os 979 on my bold, which takes 4 minutes and 18 seconds to boot up. I have several apps which may be the cause for the delayed boot, but other than that issue, I haven't had any other problems. I may try to wipe my device completely and to a clean install, but I'm not totally sure if a minute and a half of additional boot time is worth the time and hassle it will take to deal with all of that.

I tried that yesterday, complete wipe, reloaded my data and downloaded my apps and 2 themes and I didn't do anything for my boot time, gave me 125mb of free space but I think I'm just gonna have to deal till I upgrade os to something else

Mine takes at least 6 minutes. I just got used to it....thought this was normal. Whenever i reload OS, its fast for the first day or so.

I notice that you're on AT&T. Are you using Visual Voice Mail and does it work with .979?

    Thanks!

I don't actually use visual voice mail, and I have a version of the os on my device that isn't the official os for at&t. they take far to long to make their software updates for blackberrys official.

I recently upgraded to os 6 and now my bold 9700 boots up in about a minute and a half.
